We’re excited to welcome back one of our favorite local attractions as The Ferndale Museum re-opens to the public today! Have you ever been to the museum? Just a block off historic Main Street, the Mu is a treasure trove of local history with exhibits including Victorian interiors, a barber shop, a telephone switchboard, and an operating Bosch-Omori seismograph. Crank phones in two locations are especially popular with kids of all ages. In the museum’s annex, you’ll find a ...fully operational blacksmith shop that occasionally hosts smithies on the forge, as well as collections of farm, logging, and ranching equipment and tools. If you love California history, set aside time to browse the bookstore (in person and online), where you’ll find an array of fascinating and extensively researched original books and documentary films on Ferndale and Eel River Valley. Current hours are 11am to 4pm Thurs-Sat.
