Dan began his career working for his uncle #LouieLucas (think modern day #LucasandLewellen ), founder and managing partner at pioneering #TepusquetVineyards in #SantaMariaValley - the site now occupied by #CambriaWines . It’s mind boggling to me that they were managing 1,700 acres of vines in relatively unknown SM Valley back then. The Tudor and Lucas families have a long history of grape farming in California. Noteworthy Tepusquet alumni include #BillWathen and #DickDore of #FoxenWinery fame. Dan, joined by his cousin Christian Tudor, started a personal mission to create high quality wines from Monterey County fruit in 1997. They zeroed in on best farming practices at #SantaLuciaHighland ‘s best vineyards to create elegant #Pinot with traditional #smalllot #Burgundian #winemaking techniques and moderate #French oak- leaning toward #oldworld style.
