Berkeley Chamber Performances presents the next virtual Couch and Cocktail Concert with the fabulous WindSync quintet! You can select a date from the comfort of your home at 7pm between February 2nd through Sunday, February 14th! ... From the Berkeley Chamber Performances, WindSync is a collective of five outstanding North American musicians who come together as performers (playing everything from memory), educators, and community-builders. This youthful wind quintet features Garrett Hudson, flute; Emily Tsai, oboe; Julian Hernandez, clarinet; Kara LaMoure, bassoon, and Anni Hochhalter, French horn. WindSync concerts are intimate, joyful, and thoughtfully programmed with people and places in mind. Make it an international dinner and show date night with takeout from one of the many Berkeley eateries! https://www.tickettailor.com//berkeleychamberperfor/469650

Fish & Bird now offers incredible sushi, sashimi and chirashi to-go, which is in addition to their already creative and innovative modern Japanese cuisine. Many restaurants are closed on Mondays, but Fish & Bird has your sushi craving covered! Plate it at home for a lovely meal with Heath Ceramics, MUJI USA, and Sarah Kersten Studio, like in this photo! visitberkeley.com https://www.toasttab.com/fish-bird-sousaku-izakaya/v3

Another restaurant in Berkeley that use 100% sustainable to-go packaging is local favorite Riva Cucina in West Berkeley. Jen co-owner of Riva with her husband Massi shared this anecdote with us: We use percent compostable disposables and have been doing so since 2007 when we were first certified as a Berkeley Green Business! It was not readily available then, and I remember driving to a warehouse in Richmond to even find the supplies.... Thank you Riva Cucina for your commitment to the environment and for pivoting during these times with fresh pasta kits for easy at-home Riva Cucina cooking! https://www.rivacucina.com/ visitberkeley.com Glenn Ramit

We sure miss visiting Bampfa in Downtown Berkeley, but do you know that you can stream newly released films and restored classics selected by their curators in the comfort of your home?! Art organizations and performance venues have been hit hard during this difficult time. We are awestruck by how they have pivoted. Below are some of Berkeley’s music and theater locations. Celebrate today with some sparkling wine from Blue Ox Wine Co. over in the Gilman District on Fifth Street! For The Grateful Table Dine Out this month, we want to include libation spots too. Read the Q&A with winemaker Josh Hammerling below! Q: What do you like about having a business in Berkeley?... A: As a winemaker it's very rewarding to do business in the Bay Area because the standard level of wine knowledge for guests who visit us is pretty elevated. People come into our tasting room with higher expectations in terms of quality and ethical standards of production. At the same time they bring curiosity and openness to try new things and take chances, which I appreciate because we love experimenting with lesser known varieties and styles of wine. There are thousands of wineries in California, so it makes sense to do things a little bit differently, and Berkeley's the perfect place for that. Q: Where do you like to hang out when you’re not at Blue Ox? A: My favorite spots to hang out are East Bay Regional Park District’s Tilden Park and the Albany Bulb. Bartavelle Coffee & Wine Bar and Vik's Chaat are my go-to for sustenance. Blue Ox Wine Co. The story behind Riva Cucina is truly Bay Area, of a family blended from two cultures, inhabiting different parts of the Bay Area, lovers of slow food and the culinary way of life. It starts with Massimiliano Boldrini, affectionately known as Massi; he hails from the very special Emilia Romagna region. This is the often ignored region by those who don’t know Italy well, but it should be on everyone’s radar as it is the birthplace of Parmigiano, traditional balsamic vinegar, p...rosciutto, ravioli, and mortadella. Jennifer Boldrini was born in Palo Alto and grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her natural curiosity for travel led her to a career in online travel, where she met Massi first in Los Angeles, and then again in Italy for a work trip. Jenn says, What we have always loved most about Riva was the time + space it provided families and friends to gather and enjoy each other’s company. Now we just have to shift direction and focus on creating that same quality of time + space away from Riva and towards our diners’ homes. We are about to launch finish-at-home family-style meals and have been offering fresh pasta kits as well. We just keep trying to create offerings that would bring the experience we used to enjoy at Riva home. We hope you’ll support Riva Cucina by trying them out during The Grateful Table Dine Out initiative this month, brought to us by Visit California, California Restaurant Association, and Restaurants Care . #gratefultable #gratefultable_berkeley

Here in Berkeley, we are beyond grateful for our local restaurants, who have struggled to remain afloat as essential businesses. We are in awe as workers continue to safely serve tasty Berkeley eats and libations to the community during these unprecedented times. We are proud to support The Grateful Table Dine Out initiative, brought to us by Visit California and Restaurants Care during November! It's easy to participate in Berkeley: "Dine out to help out" as much as you ca...n in November! In addition to dining out, we want to highlight the non-profit California Restaurant Association, who will be raising funds this month to provide relief grants to restaurant workers to help them meet their basic needs, "like groceries, utilities, diapers, clothing, gas and rent." We hope you will revisit your favorite eateries or try some new ones this November! This month we will be sharing posts about our local restaurants and the heroes who keep us nourished! visitberkeley.com Please use these hashtags to get the word out: #gratefultable #gratefultable_berkeley #visitcalifornia #californiarestaurantassociationfoundation #californiarestaurants
