UPDATE SUNDAY APRIL 5TH: As you may have already heard, there is the potential for a large group of people being present at the Dos Vientos Village Center. Our only priority during this pandemic is to make certain that our customers and employees are given a safe place to purchase food and other necessities. As such, we have decided to approach this possibility with caution. We will be closing the Village Trader Market starting at 12:30PM today, and opening only when the parking lot and center are back to a normal number of visitors. Thank you for understanding, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

UPDATE THURS MARCH 19: Thank you all for the kind comments and amazing support. Below is a status update for Village Trader: DELI: We closed the deli dining area yesterday in compliance with Ventura County mandates for all restaurants and bars. The dining area will stay closed until it's safe to open again. The Deli, however, will remain open with a full menu for take-out orders as well as sliced meats and cheeses for home use. PRODUCT AVAILABILITY: Although it's becoming mor...e difficult to receive orders for some high-demand items such as water, toilet paper, etc. we continue to use all the suppliers available to us to make sure that we have as many of the products on hand as possible. We recently received a full order of deli meats/cheeses and beef products (tri-tip, steaks, etc.). Our dairy and eggs delivery will arrive tomorrow around noon. At this point we don't know how many items will actually be received. Other discretionary items such as snacks, candy, soft drinks, beer and wine are being supplied with very few shortages at this time. PRICES: We've heard about some price gouging at a few independent markets. Price gouging during an emergency is illegal, unethical and short-sighted. You can rest assured that we will not raise any of our prices during high demand. There are certain instances, however, that we've seen in which our wholesale prices have gone up noticeably due to shortages and market conditions. So far this has included eggs and some produce items. We will sell these at our cost as long as the crisis persists. LIMITS: We now have to initiate maximum limits for some items to make sure all our customers have a shot at getting them. Toilet paper, water and pasta are just a few of the examples. Thank you for understanding. Ernie

STATUS OF VILLAGE TRADER DURING CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK Dear Friends & Neighbors - we hope this post finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. As many of you have already seen, we've had the same run on basic grocery supplies that the larger stores are experiencing. We want to continue to do everything possible to provide some of your food and supply needs during these challenging times. Below is a status of the store as we know it today. We'll continue to post updates as... things change: - The store will remain open with normal hours (Daily 8am - 9pm) as long as official orders allow it. The deli will also be preparing and serving all food items for which we're able to get supplies. - We've instituted additional food handling and cleaning policies that exceed health department rules and guidelines. These include the additional use of sanitizing cleaners even in non-food areas and careful daily employee health evaluation and education. Please feel free to talk to me for a more detailed list of our initiatives. - We will keep the deli seating area open for the time being, but will plan to close it if we see more congregation and use than what it is currently. The arcade room, however, will be closed so as not to expose our kids to any unnecessary risk. - Most of our suppliers have started delivering more products today. We will also continue to receive orders throughout the week. They have cautioned us, however, that due to their own shortages, some of the items we ordered may not be delivered. As an example, we have not been able to get any more hand sanitizers , rubbing alcohol or any other such items. - Today, we will be receiving new bread, dairy, egg and general grocery deliveries. We've tried to order extra quantities but please be patient with us if whatever we receive gets wiped out very quickly. We promise to use whatever resources we have to maximize the supplies available. All of us at Village Trader wish you only the best and we want to do whatever we can to be positive contributors till this nightmare is over. Please let me know if you have any suggestions that would benefit the community. Ernie
