The short answer is: The vaccines are more alike than they are different, especially for members of the general public There are a few differences between them The biggest difference is the temperature and storage requirements: the Moderna vaccine is easier to ship and store because it does not require super cold freezer temperatures, unlike the Pfizer vaccine. It is also packed in smaller boxes containing only 100 doses, making it easier to deliver to hard to reach rural and small areas. New recommendations from CDC says to reduce quarentine! WHAT? CDC updated their recommendations on quarantine duration after exposure to a person with known or suspected COVID infection, show us strategies to allow some flexibility while continuing to minimize risk (not as much as the full 14-day quarantine, of course).... This include stopping quarantine: After day 10 without testing After day 7 after receiving a negative test result. After stopping quarantine, you should: Watch for symptoms until 14 days after exposure. If you have symptoms, immediately self-isolate and contact your local public health authority or healthcare provider. Wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet from others, wash hands, avoid crowds, and take other steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Wondering what effects may have the vaccine on you? The most important thing to know is it won't give you COVID-19. Still, some side effects are registered, like: ... Pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site Chills Tiredness Headaches This could happen a day or two after getting vaccinated and may last only a couple of days. No need to worry because these symptoms are a sign that the body is reacting properly to the vaccine. Any clue of when will you get vaccinated? You should know that initially, the vaccine will go to all healthcare workers. Less medically vulnerable will need to wait longer. Afterward, California’s expert advisory panel suggested who should get the vaccine next: ... Education and childcare workers Police officers and firefighters. Food and agricultural workers. Where can you get vaccinated? At hospitals and long-term care facilities if you are part of 1A group. After that, California plans to work with hospitals, pharmacies and mobile clinics to distribute vaccines. What about residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities? The federal government has contracted with CVS and Walgreens to administer the COVID-19 vaccines at no cost to longterm care residents and staff. The vaccine is out! What about children? The Pfizer vaccine authorized for use by the FDA was greenlighted only for people ages 16 and up. What will happen to our kids? ... The debate centers on two issues: The degree of harm COVID-19 causes children The extent to which children are spreading the virus to their friends, teachers, parents, and grandparents. Evidence shows that teens and children as young as 8 can transmit the disease and if is in mind to kids to go back to school and not have the teachers union terrified, is needed to make sure they aren’t a risk. Is a concern how far it is for the vaccine be available for children. This joined the stress of missed school, absent friends, and distanced families have caused them immense suffering. Last week, the CDC changed their definition of what it means to be a close contact to reflect a surprising case that was contracted in a Vermont correctional facility. Simply put, the definition changed such that you are now considered a close contact if you have been within 6 feet of an infected person for 15 minutes CUMULATIVELY in a 24 hour period rather than necessitating that the 15 minutes be CONSECUTIVE The timing of exposure to the infected person includ...es being in close contact with them starting from 2 days before their symptom onset (or 2 days before testing) until the time the patient is isolated. From a friend from our days at Sacred Heart Preparatory School "My son Rod Cardamone dropped a new song today called Paradox Valley. The song is named after a valley in Colorado in which the Dolores River crosses the divide between two cliff walls. Roddy learned about that valley about the same time as he read the speech RFK gave in Indianapolis the night that MLK was killed, in which RFK quoted Aeschylus: "Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God." Indianapolis is the only major US city that did not erupt in violence that night. This song is the result of Roddy's pondering all that in this complex time. After eight full months of the global pandemic the pressure to keep economies open and let the chips (or rather, the elderly) fall where they may is growing strong. The Great Barrington Declaration of Oct. 4 was signed by three medical professors from Oxford, Harvard and Stanford universities and by tens of thousands of other people. It demands a return to life as normal no mention of masks social distancing contact tracing or COVID-19 tests for everybody except the vulnerable, who would presumably self-isolate semipermanently. For the most part, coronavirus is still thought to be spread most commonly through droplet transmission, However there is growing evidence that airborne transmission can also occur in some circumstances The CDC recently updated their guidance on How COVID-19 Spreads to reflect this, but they have not changed their general prevention recommendations given that it does not seem to routinely be the method of transmission. By definition, airborne transmission is the spread ...of infection through exposure to tiny exhaled virus-containing respiratory droplets and particles that can remain suspended in the air over long distances (usually greater than 6 feet) and periods of time (minutes to hours). In contrast droplet transmission usually occurs after someone is in close contact (within 6 feet) of an infectious person who exhales larger respiratory droplets. Typically these larger droplets fall out of the air due to gravity while smaller ones spread apart in the air and thus the concentration decreases with distance beyond 6 feet. #socialdistancing #airborneTransmission #informative #COVID19

You might want to think deeper about the importance of masks... Masks, depending on the material and fit, can filter out the majority of viral particles, but not all. Aside from the public benefit of protecting others by wearing your face mask, many experts believe that universal masking reduces the inoculum or dose of the virus for the mask-wearer, leading to more mild or asymptomatic infection.

After months of social distancing and with holidays approaching, many people are turning to quarantine bubbles, to try to balance the risks of the pandemic with the social and emotional needs of life When done carefully, research shows that quarantine bubbles can effectively limit the risk while allowing much needed social interactions with family and friends HOW TO BUILD A QUARANTINE BUBBLE: Everyone must agree to follow the rules and be honest and open about their act...ions. Everyone must decide how much risk is acceptable and establish rules that reflect this decision. Everybody has to actually follow the rules, comply with physical distancing outside of the quarantine bubble, and be forthcoming if they think they may have been exposed. THE RISKS OF JOINING A QUARANTINE BUBBLE: Asymptomatic spread. The consequences of getting sick are not the same for everyone. If individuals are informed and sincere in their efforts and follow the regular guidance of social distancing, mask wearing, and enthusiastic hand-washing, quarantine bubbles can offer a robust and structured middle ground approach to manage risk while experiencing the joy and benefits of friends and family. #socialdistancing #quarantinebubbles #informative #COVID19
