Large fireplace reface. When we got here the fireplace was just sheet rock. Large rooms with vaulted ceilings need to be balanced out. Installing a smaller fireplace in an area of this size would have been dwarfed by the scale of the room. To many times we see massive, overpowering fireplaces in small rooms or small, dainty fireplaces in large rooms. Balance is key. They added the electrical, data and a mount for future T.V. We installed a heavy precast concrete mantel, hearth and veneered the face of the fireplace in natural stone panels. I think this added a great focal point to the room. To say we do a lot of flagstone would be an understatement haha. Here we put down around 1200 SQFT natural quartzite flagstone, overlaid on the homeowners existing concrete patio. We did not build the outdoor kitchen but we did install a new precast concrete mantel and stone veneer on the outdoor fireplace. Flagstone takes a lot of attention to detail not only to look beautiful but for the longevity of the patio. There is no better way to dress up your home’s curb appeal than to add a stone veneer. On this build we removed a lot of the home’s existing stucco / foam pop out trim so we could reprofile with stone. We left some of the trim on the home to act like accents and to give contrast. Fire & Water! We built this masonry water feature with a fire bowl that has a water fall spilling into an open basin to match the waterfall in the pool. We wanted to create the illusion that the main water feature feeds the pool waterfall. We added two more columns with fire bowls on top to tie the whole picture together. On the other side of the patio we have a masonry fire pit with a seating wall. As you can see this whole backyard can be lit via the fire features. A new concept developed by Viking Masonry, Inc. This year we are introducing a new style of fire features called Fire Walls. Not quite a fire pit and not quite a fireplace, these fire walls are designed to be placed in areas where it does not make sense to place a fire pit. We can place them against fence lines, edge of concrete patio, in most cases against the exterior wall of your home or just a center focal point. This design is also good for hiding a propane tank behind the back wall if needed as our standard circular fire pits cannot.
