This is why you change your oil every 3-5000 miles. Both are similar in year and mileage. The first one is normal oil build up and the second one probably hasn’t had a good maintenance program and when they did change oil they used a paraffin based oil from Pennsylvania. An oil change along with regular scheduled maintenance will save you over time. I recommend taking your car to a regular auto shop instead of a quick lube so they can do more of an inspection and recommend your scheduled maintenance. Don’t think that every shop is trying to up sell you they are actually caring for your car
