In addition to yesterday's curfew, today the Santa Clara County Superior court is closed for possible safety issues. Presiding Judge Ryan stated the following, "In an abundance of caution and in the interest of safety for the public, judicial officers and employees, I am ordering the Santa Clara County Superior Court closed tomorrow, June 1st. Please do not come to court tomorrow. I do not make this decision lightly, but with the uncertainty of these times and the cu...rfew that has been imposed, I believe l it is necessary for the protection of all to take this action. Updated information will be made available tomorrow as new information is received." Please be safe and take care of yourself in these challenging times. We will continue to give you updated information as we receive it as to how the court is handling Covid-19 and protest related closures. Thank you and stay safe.

In domestic violence cases, actual victims will sometimes "recant" their story as they don't want to testify against their loved one. Because of this dynamic, it can be extremely difficult to get the DA's office to dismiss bogus domestic violence claims. They see it as, "that's just what happens in these cases." The more you can be proactive, conduct an independent defense investigation and reach out to the DA BEFORE charges are filed, the greater the chance for successfully defending false claims.

Mercury News deserves credit for acknowledging some of the difficulties in deciding if a crash is "marijuana related" or not. "But the limitations of the data make it impossible to know for sure how many of the documented incidents were directly caused by marijuana use. Unlike alcohol, for example, testing positive for marijuana doesn’t necessarily mean a person is under the influence of the drug at the time of the traffic accident.

From the article, " Relief is not automatic under the new law. Individuals who want their marijuana convictions reclassified or cleared must submit an application to a court. They may also need to hire an attorney to help them through the process. About 5,000 people have so far applied to have marijuana sentences reviewed for possible relief, according to data compiled by the Judicial Council of California. And while it’s encouraging that some are taking advantage of the new process, it’s an extremely small fraction of the number of people who have been arrested for marijuana offenses in the state." .https://www.huffingtonpost.com//california-marijuana-legal
