Share your talent, display your patriotism and express your creativity. Enter the VFW Auxiliary national anthem singing contest, Get Excited for the Red, White ...and Blue! Youth ages 6 to 16 are invited to sing The Star-Spangled Banner in the genre and arrangement of their choice they just can’t change the words! There is a $1,000 national prize and 10 winners will each receive a $100 prize. Video entries and signed entry forms are due to a local VFW Auxiliary by March 31, 2021. This past weekend, the VFW and California's VFWMC had the honor of celebrating Gus Meidinger’s 101st birthday. State Commander Lowe presented a certificate to commemorate this day. Gus served in the US Navy during WWII and is a Life Member of VFW Post 6158 in Fair Oaks, CA. #VFW #VFWCA #VFWMC

Today marks the 20th Anniversary of the suicide bomb attack against the USS Cole. Today, the VFW, Department of California will have a 20th Anniversary Remembrance Prayer for the 17 sailors that were killed during a suicide bomb attack while the ship was in Yemen. The service will be held at the gravesite of one of the sailors, Lakiba Nicole Palmer, at 10am. It will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in San Diego. If you cannot attend please observe a moment of silence today for their service and sacrifice.

State Commander John Lowe attended tonight’s meeting of Jimmie Connors VFW Post 6311 in Manteca Ca and presented the 2019/2020 National Outstanding Community Service Award. Congratulations to the Post and Auxiliary members who did a great job working our programs last year.
