Hi, friends! While our Wellness Clinic is still closed due to COVID-19, we’re hard at work collecting donations and distributing food and supplies to members of our community experiencing homelessness. We’re finding ourselves especially short on wet cat food, wet dog food and kitty litter! If you would like to donate items, please drop them off at the San Jose Animal Care Center at 2750 Monterey Rd. San Jose 95111 Tuesday-Saturday between 11am and 7pm. Or, if you’re an Amaz...on or Chewy addict, you can have them do the hard work for you! Just ship to Vets for Healthy Pets at the same address! Thank you so much for your continued generosity and support.

Even though The San Jose Animal Care Center (SJACS) isn’t able to restart the Wellness and Spay and Neuter clinics yet, we wanted to let you know that both HSSV and SJACS have been doing what we can to help this community during COVID. Read below for an update from Jaime at HSSV! In July, volunteers combed through the Wellness Clinic files to compile a list of contact info of all 200+ clients who had received services in the past year. Then, volunteers called EVERY SINGLE ONE... of them to ask how their pets were doing and what, if any services they might need AND directed them to our Pet Pantry program to sign up for free pet food. The Pet Pantry program was also posted on Nextdoor, and as a result of all of this grass-roots work, nearly 50 people signed up! In addition to providing resources through Pet Pantry, we were also able to support some of our unhoused clients with additional pet-related services, which I know is near and dear to all of our hearts. SJACS and the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (SVACA) have also created new opportunities to support clients needing food and basic medical care for their animals. SJACS has hosted free food pick-up events at their shelter, most recently their No Pet Hungry Free Pet Food Giveaway on August 22. And, SVACA set up their COVID-19 Relief Fund and Companion Animal Cupboard which provides a month’s worth of pet food for those who need it as well as free microchipping, spay/neuter, and vaccines. We'd like to thank the community for all your generous donations that help make these programs possible for all our clients. Please be aware that our partner VCA Animal Hospitals are offering FREE 2 week dog/cat boarding (as space allows) to any persons who have to evacuate with their... pets due to the current fire situation. ACC is also literally preparing boarding space right now in case pets owners in our own ACC jurisdiction need to be evacuated as well. See more

Hi friends - ACC is hosting a FREE Pet Food Drive-thru Give-away on Saturday, August 22nd from 9 a.m. 1 p.m. This event `Un Plato Desde el Corazón ’ (No P...et Hungry) is to help members of our community who are struggling to feed their pets during this difficult pandemic. We are calling on our residents, who have the means, to join us in donating dog or cat food for these pets who are hungry and in need. All un-opened pet food donations, no matter how small, are welcome and appreciated! You can drop off your food donation by 8/21 to our shelter located at 2750 Monterey Rd., SJ 95111 www.sanjoseanimals.com THANK YOU! See more

Amid the coronavirus crisis, there are more families facing uncertain times. We're pleased to announce we're launching our new COVID-19 Relief Fund and Companio...n Animal Cupboard to assist companion animal guardians who reside in Campbell, Monte Sereno, Mountain View and Santa Clara and are experiencing economic hardships due to the pandemic. Our Cupboard will provide a month's worth of food and supplies for those who need it, and also offer spay/neuter services, microchipping and vaccines, at no cost to them. We're also initiating a Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for Placement Partners in our cities. Working together to help animal overpopulation, we know these are tough times for so many. We don't want to lose the momentum and progress that has been made for companion animals in our community over the last several years. We'll offer significantly reduced costs for spay/neuter services for rescued animals. To take advantage of this low-cost program, apply here. SVACA is grateful to Friends of SVACA, who have agreed to support both these important programs. Our hope is to make the Cupboard self-sustaining over time with the help of our community. We've created Amazon, Target and Walmart wishlists to make it easy to donate, or you can drop off food and supplies at the Animal Care Center. If you're interested in doing a food drive or have a student who would like community service credit for such a project, please email [email protected] for more details. For more information or to apply for either program, go to https://tinyurl.com/ycnhogx4,

Due to COVID19/Coronavirus concerns, we deeply regret that we need to cancel the upcoming clinics for the months of March and April. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. Please keep your fur babies safe during this time!

Friends, meet R2D2! She came to the February clinic for all of her vaccinations. This very good girl would not let go of her donut treat and enjoyed being wheeled around in her stroller. You can’t see it in this photo, but she was also wearing her R2D2 PJs! Everyone at the clinic fell completely in love with this sweet girl who has fully embraced her name! Please come see us again, R2D2!
