In 2020 Vets 4 Vets Santa Cruz distributed more that $25,000 of emergency funds to help veterans in our community with needs such as food, clothing, transportation, temporary shelter, and more. We wouldn't have been able to do this without the donations we receive from all of our supporters. If you know a veteran in Santa Cruz County who is currently in need of emergency assistance please let them know we are here to help. Veterans can make a request for emergency assistance by visiting our website and filling out an emergency assistance request : https://www.vets4vetssantacruz.org/emergency-assistance

We have a new Secretary of Veteran Affairs! We wish Denis McDonough well and hope he can fill vacancies across the country, creating a more inclusive culture at VA facilities, and be successful in all endeavors that seek to support the health and safety of our veteran and caregiver communities. https://www.stripes.com//mcdonough-is-sworn-in-as-va-secre

Veterans are stepping up for one another. While there aren't any events in California planned yet, I'm sure there will be soon. Check out TheVeteransCoalition.com which will update events as they get established. Disclaimer: Vets 4 Vets does NOT have access to vaccines but we are tracking all information that pertains to our veteran population and will bring it to you as we get it.

Today marks the first day of Black History Month! We at Vets 4 Vets firmly believe that our strength comes from our diversity. This month we will bring you the stories of Black veterans in our community, introduce you to some great organizations fighting for racial equity, and celebrate the lives of some of our most prominent Civil Rights fighters. To start, we want to introduce everyone to the Black Veterans Project! At the Black Veterans Project they seek to advance researc...h, provide dynamic storytelling, advocacy and litigation to address systemic racial inequities across the military and veteran landscape. Check out their page and site! https://www.facebook.com/BlackVeteransProject
