Gophers are not your enemy. They do more benefit than harm to the soil and nature will naturally limit them in a healthy ecosystem. I have 15 gopher holes in this one row of lettuce, but still have plenty of lettuce to harvest. I can always transplant more lettuce right in the soft dirt the gopher left me. cats are much better at controlling the gophers than poisons or traps.
