We are proud to contribute to the fight against overdose death through provider education. Our Vice President of Provider Development, Gary Tamkin, MD, FACEP presented at the Emergency Nurses Association EN20X Virtual Xperience conference last week. His talk titled Cop Tox: What’s New on the Street covered the identification and treatment of overdose for commonly abused drugs. Dr. Tamkin has unique expertise on this topic due to his role as Medical Director of the Californi...a Highway Patrol. This always-important topic is more important than ever now during the COVID epidemic. Substance abuse has increased tremendously due to isolation and anxiety. Since the outset of COVID, overdose deaths are up almost 15% due to an uptick in overdoses and a reduction in prompt identification of overdose patients.
