Our 2020 Holiday Party on Zoom was super fun! We had 45 members and a few 49.5s join in the fun, including 8 new members and members we haven’t seen in awhile. Activities were a thoughtful invocation by Pat McCollum, awarding our $3,000 Susan Liebeler Student Pilot Scholarship, a slideshow with highlights of our Geocaching Flying Challenge along with comments from the participants, and a fun aviation themed party game called Never Have I Ever, where we remembered funny things that have happened when flying and got to hear some great stories. Thank you to the board and team members who did a fabulous job planning the party and to the members who attended. While the Zoom party was fun, we sure do hope we can have our regular in person party next year.

This is so cool... while in the U.K., VC99s member, Yolanda, got to PILOT a 1944 Spitfire that actually flew in the Battle of Britain! She also got to fly over Beachy Head and the White Cliffs of the Seven Sisters, doing a victory roll over the Cliffs. Flying a 1600 HP Rolls Royce Merlin engine was a feeling she will NEVER forget! ... She will show us her video at an upcoming VC99s meeting

Be sure to put forth your BEST effort! Many applicants fail to include important details in their essay, while writing about peripheral things that won't raise their score. You can't be scored on what don't say (important facts and details are so often left out!) but you may be scored poorly on what doesn't present well in your application. Lori Parker has been a pillar of our chapter since she joined the 99s in 2002. She may be moving away to another state but she will always be in our chapter. Lori’s contributions throughout the years have been outstanding She has Served on the board as Chapter Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary... Was our Women Pilot of the Year in 2010 Headed the Scholarship team for many many years Runs the Student pilot classes Works the Pancake Breakfast at Wings Over Camarillo every year, and brings in mega tips for the scholarship fund Organizes the Silent Auction at Wings Over Camarillo Helps out at Aviation Career Day Mentors student pilots Represents our chapter at SWS and International events Always has great ideas Always willing to help And so many other things I can’t even remember them all We truly appreciate all Lori's contributions, friendships and mentoring.
