Hey all you cool cats and kittens it’s the weekend! (See what I did there?!) . . . It’s actually suppose to rain all weekend in SoCal making me slightly have to adjust my plans but I can’t wait for weddings & the desert! In the meantime throwback to this beautiful place this summer!... . . . Mua @mua_cl See more
I’m not one to post same day photos on my feed because I always mull over them but this sweet family session was so much fun and I loved everything about it so I wanted to share how adorable this family is! I cannot wait to photograph their wedding next year side note: isn’t this @sheinofficial dress so freaking adorable?! Who else has a love/hate with shein?! . . . Mua @mua_cl
Happy Halloween! . . . I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful wedding on hallows-eve and it was perfection! The details were absolutely stunning and while they had to pair down from their original plans it was filled with double the love. I’ve been doing a few consult calls this week for weddings. Every time I do them I try to explain how I want to include the small details of your day as well as the bigger picture. So in ode to what I’ve been sharing with my f...uture brides I wanted to share some of my favorite details from yesterday‘s wedding. . . . Come on Barbie let’s go party . . . Barbie and Ken went on a little vacation this year. Little did they know that upon going to this vacation the toy maker went out of business (because 2020) and Barbie and Ken went into the land of rejected toys and dolls(anyone catch the toy story reference?!). As a little ode to Halloween meet the newest dolls in the series: undead Barbie & Ken on vacation ... . . . Yesterday’s wedding was the most relaxed and sweet day! Seriously though it was so chill! When I got there Michelle was hanging out with friends and relaxing and that’s exactly how the rest of the day went. In the most historic hotel in downtown San Diego, we danced & laughed a lot! . . . Let’s talk about maternity photos. Since quarantine babies are totally a thing I’ve been working with a lot of maternity clients that I have learned a few tips to share to you! . . . 1) the ideal time in my opinion to do maternity photos are between 29-34 weeks pregnant. Depending if this is your second/third/fourth etc pregnancy you’ll want to likely do them on the earlier part of that timeline. ... . . . 2) try and purchase items that aren’t necessarily meant for maternity but baggier in the belly area and sized up. If you were to purchase maternity specific dresses message me and I can send you some of my favorite looks/designers! . . . 3) if there are other kiddos in your session (this is for family sessions in general) I’m recommending to stray away from the beach for a bit. The beaches are still abnormally packed and between the distractions of the sand, other people, the ocean and now the cold breeze I would suggest locations other than the beach for now! . . . Anyway, I hope these helped and my inbox is always open for clients for questions on wardrobe or locations! See more
I’ve learned this week that when life throws you some curveballs you dodge them as much as you can and plan b/c/d/e in place because while it’s frustrating and sometimes painful oftentimes life is uncontrollable. As I begin to navigate the world we are going through, sometimes it’s easier to see things in the raw colorless image. The one that evokes emotion without big booming golden sunset. Hence why I’m kinda switching it all up and throwing this guy up today! . . . When life brings you lemons how do you make lemonade?
Just over here pretending like it’s fall in California. I love the weather out here but man do I miss the the changing seasons. . . . At least I can somewhat pretend it kinda looks like fall with falling leaves and bare trees
Oopsie I totally haven’t posted in a few days but I swear I’m just blaming this crazy busy season. Story of my life is just keep swimming . . . Anyway, I feel the cooler air finally coming through so as an ode to the end of summer some for your evening scrolling
Let’s talk about details. Sometimes it’s so easy to get wrapped up in photographing the faces in front of me. Oftentimes I feel like I forget the detail photos like the way your hair moves in the ocean breeze or how your legs snuggle all up together. Lately it’s been a big goal of mine to bring back those detail photos because I believe that those help tell the story of the moment. So as an ode to details, I want to share some of my favorite detail photos from a recent session. What do you think? Does it help tell the story and emote something for you? . . . Long story long- yesterday felt like the world's biggest disaster. In the midst of busy season a friend had asked for headshots & I had this random creative itc...h so hey lets do something crazy. We drove 2 hours to this studio location. The studio (that rents out multiple rooms) lost our reservation so we were initially stuck in a room with the world's smallest window and a rain shower that smelled like a humid indoor pool (ick sorry) Then we were able to move to the strangest room adorned with a neon metallic wall, a telephone pole, and a motercycle and against a tiny window. From wanting to do something creative to really testing my ability with light knowledge thanks to good friends for embracing the adventure Andrea Pope Christina Lopez (do you spot the weird rain shower one? lol)
Beach days because its still 100+ degrees in SoCal
Clearly family sessions are a theme because I have been doing them so often!
Loving all these fall colors and family cuddles
