The City Council of Hayward, California will meet TODAY (Tuesday, January 14th, 2014) to consider an urgency ordinance which would impose a temporary moratorium on various e-cigarette businesses in the city. Please take this opportunity to send the members of the City Council accurate information about e-cigarettes and your story about how the product has improved your life. Keeping in line with the last post, let's focus on Berkeley for a moment. UC Berkeley is following many other University campuses across the country in labeling their campus as "Smoke Free", and including e-cigs in their ban. It is up to us, the proponents of vaping, to voice our opinions and stop this senseless connection of vaporizers to cigarettes. CASAA California Action Alert: Los Angeles City Council Committee to Discuss Possible Attack on E-Cigs Tomorrow! ... Committee meeting Wednesday, October 23rd at 8:30 AM -- please attend and speak! Also, an update on next opportunity to comment on Lakewood, CA vaping ban proposal Dear Jason, CASAA has learned that tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23rd, the Arts, Parks, Health, Aging and River Committee on the Los Angeles City Council will hold a special meeting on e-cigarettes and other topics. This meeting will be held at 8:30 AM in Room 1010 of City Hall (200 North Spring Street in Los Angeles). We need vapers in the Los Angeles area to attend and speak! Councilman Paul Koretz has proposed to either enact a moratorium on the sale of e-cigarette sales in new stores or to extend current tobacco laws in Los Angeles to e-cigarettes. If attending, please sign up to speak upon arrival (there should be a card to fill out). Please testify to the benefits of e-cigarettes and in opposition to both the moratorium and the proposal to treat e-cigarettes like all tobacco products. Make sure to point out that California law already bans e-cigarette sales to minors! If you can attend and need assistance with your testimony, please reply to this e-mail. Update on Lakewood (Call to Action): The next meeting of the Lakewood City Council will take place on Monday, October 28 at 7:00 PM.
