Safety first! VPCS hosted the first of two CPR/AED training sessions for our employees over the weekend. We’re even getting schooled in how to help in the event of a choking incident the fourth leading cause of unintentional injury deaths in the U.S. Thanks to the great professional trainers at Heart Ready, we’re now better equipped to respond in a variety of emergency situations, whether we’re in the office or on the job site. We applaud our staff members for adding this important skill to their toolkits.

We’re excited to share some great bird’s-eye-view shots of the new Napa Junction Elementary School, being built in beautiful American Canyon as part of the Napa Valley Unified School District's Measure H bond program. VPCS is proud to serve as both program and construction manager for this $269 million district-wide undertaking.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our friend and colleague Pete Norgaard. Pete was part of the fabric of the Van Pelt family for decades first as a Pinole neighbor to Fred and Sadie and a high school coach to Mike and Mark. Following his long tenure at Lathrop Construction, we were thrilled when he joined VPCS in our early years, quickly earning the title of vice president of operations. During his more than 20 years with us, he proved himself to be a talented, dedicated professional. But more importantly, he was a great man and a very dear friend to us all. We’ll miss him terribly and send our warmest wishes to his family. Rest in peace, Pete.
