Stella crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Christmas Day and now her #needlefelted likeness is forever huggable for a family missing her greatly. I love that my Lola girl got up on the couch to pose with Stella when I was taking pictures as Lola and Stella were the same age and we know they would have been fast friends! I was so touched by my brother’s reaction to Spot Kitty’s memorial portrait. Though I make these #petportraits regularly, I don’t often get to hear the full force of the recipient’s reaction, but this time I did, and it nearly brought ME to tears! It truly is very special for me to recreate the pets we love so dearly in this manner. It’s San Diego Design Week and the SD Made Factory is hosting events all week!!! I will be hosting #sociallydistanced open studio each afternoon from 2-6 pm and Sat from 10-2. Now’s your chance to put on your face mask and come out for some quiet shopping and seeing what the SD Made Factory is all about. September 9-13 is the inaugural San Diego Design Week, a five-day celebration of the city’s multi-faceted design community. Programming has been fully adapted with everyone’...s safety in mind and will present a variety of options to get involved, both virtually and physically! Throughout San Diego Design Week, we invite you to come by the San Diego Made Factory for open studios, socially-distanced local shopping, Factory tours, and more. Participants will be invited to walk in and safely view the interior of the Factory space with resident artists and makers opening their studios and showcasing products for sale (masks required.) The first 10 people to arrive each day will get a free grab bag with locally-made goods! When you arrive inside, you will be greeted by a camera where every guest has the opportunity to press record, say hello, and tell us what design means to you! We will be compiling all of the videos to share during our live virtual event. The Open Factory Schedule is as follows: Wed. 9/9-Fri. 9/11: 2-6 p.m. Sat., 9/12-Sun. 9/13: 10 a.m. 2 p.m. On Saturday, 9/12 at 4:00 p.m., we will host our live virtual event with a tour of the San Diego Made Factory and the creative studios we house.
