Our office had a great triple birthday party at Hilltop Winery a few Fridays ago. Happy Birthdays Kathy, Tony, and Britt!

Erik and I would like to thank Liberty Mutual for hosting their casino night at Dave and Busters this past Tuesday. We had a great time at the craps table and even more fun looking at all the dejected faces in the crowd as Erik and I won the best raffle prizes of the evening. ~Tony

My thoughts on healthcare reform.. There'a a lot going on both at the federal level and in the state of CA. The house has passed their version of healthcare reform and the senate is now drafting their version of the bill. Nobody knows what is going to happen when the dust settles. (I think not even our Congress). While Congress is working on the AHCA (American Healthcare Act) California is working on their own solution. SB 562, the Healthy California Act. This is a single pa...yer system run by the state of CA. Essentially California will be assuming all responsibility for healthcare and taking the insurance carriers out of the picture altogether. While I can certainly understand California's reasoning in doing something like this, I don't think it's prudent to give the state complete control of our healthcare system. The cost alone will at least double our state budget, and so far there has been no discussion about how to fund this additional cost. Also, I tend not to want to let the same people providing advice and support at the CA DMV providing advice and support for my healthcare needs. Our agency wishes to thank Markel Insurance for hosting their annual Tom Forester golf tournament. We have attended this event several years now and Markel does such a great job in hosting the agencies who attend. We all had a great time, even our golf balls were having fun. ~Tony

Use me to help you do your job better. It seems that many of my group administrators are losing track of when new employees have satisfied their probationary period and qualify for an offer of employee benefits, including group health insurance. I have a solution.. As part of the on-boarding process, send me an E-mail with the employees name and date of hire. I will determine their eligibility date for employee benefits and contact you at the appropriate time to get them enrolled. ~Rick

Just met with someone about to become eligible for Medicare. He was totally confused and frustrated. When our appointment was over he felt much better and know what he was going to do. That's why I love my job. If you're confused about your Medicare options and just need someone to talk to give our office a call. ~Rick

Yesterday right around noon I looked out my window after I heard sirens from emergency vehicles. The owner of this truck went into the market and by the time he came back out, his truck was engulfed in flames. I am hopeful that he had a commercial auto policy that has comprehensive coverage to help with the replacement of this vehicle. Not to mention the damage to the surrounding area could have been worse and caused a liability for the owner of this truck. If you have a vehicle you use for your own business and have a personal auto policy, you should give me a call to discuss the limitation of a personal auto policy, and look into obtaining a commercial auto policy. It took fire fighters about 20 minutes to fully extinguish the fire. I was surprised how stubborn the fire was. Great job VC Fire! ~Tony
