It’s shocking. It’s scary. It’s preventable. Watching the wildfires raging in California conjures up so many emotions. San Diego is no stranger to the devastation, and we hope our prevention and preparedness efforts will help avoid or lessen any future incidents. The Burn Institute rigorously encourages residents to take the threat of home fires and wildfire seriously. In addition to the wildland open spaces in our county, the numerous canyons in the urban areas are in danger... of igniting and we remind you to remain vigilant. Every step you take in advance of an unexpected fire reduces risk to you, your family, and your home. Fire is, and always has been, part of the dynamics of the beautiful area in which we’ve chosen to live. Drought conditions combined with unstoppable Santa Ana winds remind us that the next big one is around the corner. It’s not a matter of if. It’s a matter of when. Local fire service is preparing for the next big one shouldn’t you do the same? Living with Wildfire Learn the ins and outs of wildfire preparedness, from landscaping tricks to handy tips on evacuating.
