A lot of efforts are focused on using less water, but there are plenty of ways to collect water that is otherwise wasted down the drain like placing a good-sized bucket in the shower or a basin in the sink. But what do you do with all... that excess water? Especially if you don't have a garden to water? Using it to flush your toilet will both limit consumption and recycle all that excess water from being wasted. And the best part is that it's actually pretty easy to do. You’ll need (at minimum) one gallon to properly move the waste from the bowl, or maybe even more if there’s solid waste present. Take your time and start slowly - simply pour the extra water into the bowl. Don't worry about removing the tank lid or flushing the handle. The extra water and gravity will do all the work; it really is like magic! These water saving efforts will also help you gain the satisfaction of making a positive difference in our ecosystem!
