Hi Folks, Here are the links you need for our two important gatherings tomorrow! First, we’ll worship at 10:30 here:... https://zoom.us/j/95051583307 Later in the afternoon, we’ll gather for the 1:30 - 3:00 Town Hall here: zoom.us/j/96652322659?pwd=S2xudUhRTkcwMTZ1QWVGN254T05Cdz09 In light of the Town Hall, WE'RE GOING TO SKIP THE 12:00 COFFEE HOUR THIS WEEK. Personally, I’ve only got so much extroversion to spare after worship on Sunday mornings, and I want to save it for the larger public meeting. I’d much rather that you save your time and eyeballs for the Town Hall, too. If that leaves you wanting socially, you might sign on early to the Town Hall and have some social time with other members then. We’ll open the Town Hall Zoom room around 1:00. Or pick up the phone right now and give a friend a call! See you tomorrow, Rev. Chris

Hi Friends, We’ll return to our year-long exploration of the Sources of Unitarian Universalism for 90 minutes this Saturday at 10:00am, via Zoom. The link is at the very bottom of this message. This week we’ll consider the Fourth Source: Jewish and Christian teachings, which call us to respond to God’s love by loving our neighbors as ourselves. ... We’ll spend a little time on the history of the Bible and its authors and compilers, consider how our Unitarian and Universalist forebears transformed their understanding of Christianity, and discuss the actual challenges of loving our neighbors as ourselves. And who or what is that loving God, you may ask? The many folks who appreciated the service Bev and I did about embracing our Christian heritage, and any skeptics thereof, are equally encouraged to attend. Feel like swimming in some deep and thought-provoking waters to get primed for the experience? Here’s some optional advance reading: Rev. William Ellery Channing’s Baltimore Sermon, aka Unitarian Christianity." http://www.americanunitarian.org/unitarianchristianity.htm Rev. Theodore Parker’s The Transient and Permanent in Christianity." http://www.americanunitarian.org/transient.htm Finally, reading the Bible never hurts either, and this site allows you to do so with the very best scholarship at hand. HOURS AND HOURS OF FUN! http://www.oxfordbiblicalstudies.com See you Saturday, Rev. Hi Friends, Well, after a very scary day and night there appears to be reason for optimism and hope as the many brave firefighters continue to tackle the Glass fire. I’m happy to report that, to my knowledge, all UUCSR evacuees have found places to stay with family, friends, fellow congregants, or in hotels or motels around the Bay Area. Also, so far as I am aware, no one in our extended congregational family has lost their home, though it got pretty threatening up there in ...Skyhawk. And, of course, our hearts and prayers are with the many families who have indeed lost their homes and barns. Thank you to everyone who stepped up yesterday in different ways: those who have welcomed people to stay with you, those who brought food to our evacuees at the Glaser Center, and all who called each other with concern and encouragement. You are a remarkably loving and caring people. Today the staff and I will plan for upcoming worship, try to get the October newsletter out before October, keep an eye on the red sky and the red hills, and sweep some ash from the front sidewalk. You know, just another normal day in Sonoma County It can feel like too much. But we keep on keeping on, because each of us has deep wells of sacred energy within, even if we have never recognized that, or have forgotten it. Maybe some deep meditation or centering prayer would help you remember? Here’s two hours of rain dripping off trees. It worked for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5b3QyEDcqk Stay safe, and call me if you need me. Fondly, Rev. Chris
