Wednesday October 21 at 5 pm - The Center for Common Ground/Reclaim Our Vote is hosting "Voting in Troubled Times: The Final Dash." The Center for Common Ground was our UUFRC Share The Plate recipient last week UU The Vote is a national partner of Reclaim Our Vote, and many members of our fellowship are volunteers. The mission is to empower voters of color in voter suppression states - we phone and postcard voters who have been removed from the rolls, to help them re-register and vote. https://actionnetwork.org//voting-in-troubled-times-the-fi
Please join us at the Truth Act Forum to demand that the Sheriff stop cooperating with ICE - he turns people over to ICE to be detained and possibly deported. We call on our Board of Supervisors to support social and racial justice, and to show moral leadership by protecting all members of our community, no matter where they were born.

Inside the church at the heart of the Louisville protests. The story of how the First Unitarian Church of Louisville flung open its doors to protesters who marched for justice for Breonna Taylor began years before the helicopters swirled overhead, before police in riot gear began marching up the alley. Thank you to UUFRC's own Tovis Page as well as Rev Penny Nixon and Rev Marilyn Bussey for lifting up the moral narrative during this election, a framework that "reconciles and erases the gap between the richest and the poorest, and elevates the dignity of those most often left behind to ensure they share in what is best of the American dream."
The Hamilton actors tell it like it is - Time to VOTE!
Share the Plate with Reclaim Our Vote this Sunday, September 27. Our donations will support this nonpartisan campaign to empower voters of color in voter suppression states. We will hear from the inspiring and visionary founder and director, Andrea Miller. Reclaim Our Vote is sponsored by the Social Action Committee, as part of our #UUTheVote efforts this year. Many UUFRC members have sent thousands of postcards and made hundreds of calls the past few months! Checks go to the parent organization, the nonprofit Center for Common Ground. Our donations will support digital billboards in Black neighborhoods as well as buying data for texting and phoning in our eight target states Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas

At the beginning of this new congregational year when programming resumes online, at a distance, and in new ways yet imagined, may we remember that it's the peo...ple that make a church. [The graphic is an image of people in shadow holding hands, with the following words positioned above them: "A church is people. It is not a body of belief, a set of principles, or an impressive structure of stone, wood, and glass." The Rev. Janet H. Bowering]
Thank you to the UUFRC Choir! And to Rev Brian, Dawn and Larry and all our musicians, Liz and the Worship Associates, the Sound Crew, and everyone who makes our worship services so uplifting and meaningful, helping us become centered and reflective each week.
2020's elections are unlike any we've ever seen. Inclusive and safe elections are only achievable if we understand the threats and challenges, and if we are prepared to respond. Join Vashti Hinton of Common Cause North Carolina and Dr Duncan Buell fo University of South Carolina, who explain how voting systems, vote counting, and voter access are all under attack -- and what we can and must do about it. https://actionnetwork.org//voting-in-troubled-times-what/&
