Today crews from Station Bodega Bay responded to a report of a capsized vessel on the rocks with no location. Communications were extremely limited, and weather conditions were challenging. Boat crews searched and quickly located the vessel and its crew. The vessel was washed ashore and the crew was trapped by the cliffs. Assistance was requested from Coast Guard Air Station San Fransisco. A helicopter was dispatched and conducted a difficult hoist in close proximity to the ...cliff face in high winds. The two adults rescued were transported to Station Bodega Bay and were treated for mild hypothermia. We want to remind boaters to check the weather conditions before going out. Always bring a radio, and wear your life jacket. These men are alive today because they had their life jackets on. The ocean is not forgiving. If you are ever unsure about the weather conditions please give us a call.
