Today, the US Supreme Court will hear arguments in a lawsuit regarding an important use of Census data: redistricting. While the US Constitution explicitly states that the Census should count all persons living in the United States, the Trump Administration issued an Executive Order in July 2020 to exclude non-citizens from Congressional reapportionment. Advocates including the ACLU sued the Trump Administration to prevent this action. The Alameda County Board of Superviso...rs recently voted to join this legal fight, along with 19 other cities and counties in California. Three lower courts have already concluded that federal law and the Constitution require the Census to count every single person. Learn more here. Thereafter, the US Census Burau will be doing back-end work along with Alameda County Complete Count and their affiliates until October 31st. USOAC has had the great pleasure of working on the 2020 Census doing outreach. Stand Up and Be Counted!
