Happy #WellnessWednesday! We invite you to take a couple of minutes out of your day to unwind. Tina Koneazny, who directs the Little Yoginis program at USC D...ornsife’s Joint Educational Project, leads us through a short yoga practice for relaxation. The Little Yoginis program brings yoga practice to elementary school classrooms in the neighborhoods surrounding USC’s campuses. USC Yogis USC students trained to teach yoga visit first- through third-grade classes to read a story and lead a yoga practice, helping the grade schoolers focus at school and overcome stress. UPDATE about JEP's service-learning and community engagement programs in response to COVID-19. As of March 16, USC has suspended all in-person coursework for students and all in-person work for employees through the end of the semester. Unfortunately, as a result, JEP has had to cancel all JEP service programs, including JEP mentors, teaching assistants and mini-course instructors, ReadersPLUS reading and math tutors, after-school programs, including WonderKids and Little Yo...ginis, Young Scientists Program, Pre-Law Project, Trojan Health Volunteers and all JEP assignments with non-profit organizations. Please see below for Frequently Asked Questions: Q: What does this mean for me if I am a student participating in any of these programs? A: You will not return to your assigned site. All written assignments due before March 16th via Blackboard are due now. We will be assigning a revised, final essay due April 1. Details will be emailed to students by March 23. Q: What does this mean for me if I am an employed student-worker for any of these programs? A: If you want to continue to work remotely, we will provide you with tasks that you can complete at home. Please contact your supervisor as soon as possible to let them know that you want to continue to work remotely, and please be on the lookout for an email from your supervisor with more information. Q: What if I applied for a community service scholarship? A: Our committees have received your materials and are in the process of reviewing them. While the annual Community Service Awards Dinner (originally scheduled for April 9) has been canceled, we still intend to award scholarships and will notify winners via email. Q: Are you still accepting applications for student employment for Summer and Fall 2020? A: Yes! Please see usc.edu/jep for more details! We will keep you posted about our response to the University’s policy as it evolves and will be guided by a concern for the safety and well-being of all our students, staff, and partners.
