If you were in Benicia today, you may have seen our duty crew conducting training for our Ports, Waterways, and Coastal Security (PWCS) mission. We regularly conduct PWCS training in order to maintain proficiency. We also made a friend who was sun bathing on of our Aids to Navigation.

Station Vallejo and our government partners will be participating in Operation Dry Water this 4th of July Weekend. ALCOHOL IS THE LEADING CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN FATAL BOATING ACCIDENTS. If you boat under the influence your voyage may be terminated, the boat may be impounded and the operator may be arrested. Penalties vary by state but can include fines, jail and loss of boating or even driving privileges.... The federal BAC legal limit for operating a vessel under the influence is .08 Alcohol use can impair a boater’s judgment, balance, vision and reaction time Sun, wind, noise, vibration and motion stressors common to the boating environment intensify the effects of alcohol, drugs, and some medications Alcohol use can increase fatigue and susceptibility to the effects of cold-water immersion. Alcohol is dangerous for passengers too. Intoxication can cause slips, falls over board and other dangerous accidents. If you boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol you are endangering your life and the lives of others. Boaters are reminded to designate a sober operator to keep you and your family safe. Any questions regarding this event can be directed to a Station Vallejo Officer of the Day or the U. S. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco command center. Station Vallejo’s main phone line (707) 643-2975 Sector San Francisco main phone line (415) 399-3532 Channel 16 on VHF Marine Radio is always available as well. Enjoy and stay safe!
