This is what a Researcher looks like Meet Gagandeep Choonch, a UROC Researcher majoring in psychology with a minor in business. This past summer, she conducted research that involved looking at how an individual transitions from employee to consumer in the age of COVID-19. Along with her mentor, Dr. Jenny Lin, they focused on examining employee behavior, their well-being, the role of moral licensing or moral cleansing effect, and how to keep employees motivated. They are also further examining how employees interact after work when they become the consumer. When she’s not exploring consumer behaviors, Gagandeep is a movie fanatic! She also keeps up to date with politics, and enjoys reading.

This is what a Researcher looks like Meet Silvia Vasquez, a UROC McNair scholar majoring in molecular biology with a minor in chemistry. Silvia works in the Loga Lab with Dr. Cheryl Logan working with coral symbiont community from American Samoa via qPCR and PCR analyzes. Silvia is originally from Lindsay, CA where she enjoyed hot summers in the rivers with her family. Now that she’s closer to the ocean, she has learned how to surf and spends more time in the water. She is also President of the CSUMB SACNAS Chapter (so if you’re interested in learning more about that, be sure to hit her up!)
