Our Old Oakland Farmers’ Market is open today and we plan for all weekend markets (except for Campbell) to be open for now. We’re keeping our eye on the air quality and we will let our vendors and customers know if plans change. If you decide to visit a farmers’ market this weekend, please take precaution by wearing an N95 mask (cover with a cloth face covering if it has an air vent) and make a shopping list in advance to limit your time outdoors. We recommend that you che...ck your local AQI before leaving the house and sensitive groups should stay indoors if the air quality is unhealthy. It has been 6 long and challenging months since Covid-19 arrived at our front doors and sadly continues to plague us today. Compounding stressors such as recent heatwaves, lightning storms, and now the return of another devastating fire season, are upon us. Our hearts are with all those impacted by the current fires burning across California. Despite poor air quality, we will keep all markets open, unless otherwise posted, as they are so critical to the livelihoods of our ...many vendors. Please take extra precautions for yourselves and your staff when visiting the market. Safety recommendations include: Wearing an N95 rated mask (without a valve) is the only mask that both filters smoke particles from entering the lungs while also keeping you, and those around you, safe from Covid-19. If you only have a N95's with a valve, then it is required to double up by adding a face shield or additional cloth mask over it to protect others from the potential spread of COVID. If you have asthma or compromised lungs, consider skipping the market until air quality has improved.
