Good Morning Villagers, It saddens me to inform you that UVMS will not be re-opening for the 2014-2015 school year. It has truly been my pleasure meeting you all, working with you all, and bonding with you all! I have watched so many of your children grow and develop, and I have grown from this experience as well. We've shared many moments in a short ten months...we've gained Villagers, lost loved ones (R.I.P. Terri Smith), overcome challenges, and conquered milestones tog...ether! We've worked hard, we've played hard, and I honestly believe that it was definitely worth the experience! I love you guys!!! My heart only hurts for the children...what they are losing...the guidance, the nurturing, the character development, autonomy, the love...smh. Anyway, this is my official statement to the parents: "It was my pleasure meeting you, working with you, playing with you, and I pray that one day I am privileged to have this honor again! Parents, The official closure letter from UVMS, as well as your child/children's transcripts will arrive to you via mail, after the Board finalizes everything on July 20, 2014. I am still available to you all for ANYTHING, ANYTHING, ANYTHING! Don't be afraid to text, call, or email!" Peace & Blessings, Ms. Tyler

Calling all of my prayer warriors: Today is the day...in a little over an hour, the Board Meeting will begin, during which time LAUSD will vote in whether or no...t to allow our school, Urban Village Middle School to remain open for operation! Someone in a high position is trying to railroad or institution, so please pray! James 5:16 states that "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much," so I'm sending the call out to the infantry! See more

KEEP UVMS OPEN! Tomorrow is the day, and WE STILL NEED 18 SIGNATURES!!! PLEASE SIGN! In case you are still in doubt of why you should sign, please take a few mo...ments to read the impact our school has had in our opening year! PLEASE SHARE! Reasons for Signing: Hulda Cruz LOS ANGELES, CA My Daughter Abira Morales attended Urban Middle Middle School This past year. It has been a rough year, but here at Urban Village I found the support We need . And this school does not deserve to be close down because it gives people support . The great staff has helped My Daughter stand up and rise like the Phoniex. GO URBAN VILLAGE!!!!! Marcie Gilbert SHERMAN OAKS, CA I have written a letter detailing my support, which I gave to U.V.'s Board to submit to LAUSD's Board. Traci Mize LOS ANGELES, CA I, Traci Mize parent of Donovan Mize feel strongly that Urban Village MS should remain open. I was having a hard time looking for a school when my son was going into the 6th grade. I knew I wanted a close bond, small classes, academically and character, family based and social atmosphere. I received all and more. Please keep UVMS open. Ms Johnson is the most caring and all about have the kids learning and growing up to be intelligent and beautiful adults, as it starts here. I truly hope Urban Village MS remains open. Sincerely, Traci Mize ~ Anna Robinson LOS ANGELES, CA Urban Village has a spirit and a soul. It is just beginning and it has the bones and the heart to make a real difference in the lives of young people. It just needs to have the chance. Cathy Thomas INGLEWOOD, CA My son Joshua Thomas went through a difficult year. The world hand him some things that no child have to indoor. but Ms. Johnson and staff helped as a village to help Joshua stand up and learn and hold his head up high and become the type of man to be president if he want to. DORETHA MAY LOS ANGELES, CA Urban Village Middle School deserves a chance to excel! Sherry Meadows LOS ANGELES, CA My daughter started UVMS with a record of self esteem issues and from being bullied at her previous school. But after the first part of the semester her maturity and self esteem along with academics has truly been uplifted. I would hate to see such a great powerful school be gone due to lack of funding. It has been designed to let children find their selves and build character. I planned to send my son there In the next year. Christian Jimenez INGLEWOOD, CA I attended the previous school owned by ms. Johnson and I can attest that without that school I would not have been able to attend uc Irvine, graduate and have the job I currently have. These schools do more than educate the children, they build during character and instill giving back as a principle for life. Sandra Muhammad LOS ANGELES, CA Urban Village Middle School is a wonderful learning environment for children to thrive. This school teaches moral values, righteous conduct and builds character. Wendy Ramirez LOS ANGELES, CA My son just graduated from this school and all I can say this school was best choice ever we are so happy with this school and will absolutely recommend it to our friends and family Wanda Turner CARSON, CA I also raised a son as a single mother and a strong educational foundation is what I sought for him also, in addition to a school that helped develop his character. And a school with capable, nurturing teachers. Jsané Tyler COMPTON, CA This school is a gem in the community! The transformation of minds and character take place within this school, and children who never had the desire to learn are now thriving and eager to attend class, daily! Keep Urban Village open! The community needs a middle school of this caliber right here, where our children do not have to be bussed to other zip codes in order to have the assurance of a quality education. Dr. Redell Hearn NEW ORLEANS, LA The UVMS provides a comprehensive learning experience---conscientious parents, willing students, motivated teachers, and rational administrators---components that will influence students in middle school, through college and beyond! Please DO NOT let our students slip through the cracks of LAUSD bureaucracy! Tony Hicks LONG BEACH, CA Parents should have choice(s) in where their children attend school. And unless LAUSD can show CLEAR AND JUSTIFIABLE reasons why such a school should not continue after only one year of operation it MUST stay open. Parents/Students have rights!! Barbara Kimble LOS ANGELES, CA I have seen the growth in a number of your students. Charri Hearn Schairer LOS ANGELES, CA Education needs to be appropriate for Students' needs and not just Administrative priorities. Let's give this charter school a chance!
