School gardens are difficult to maintain without a sustainable foundation of 'buy in' and support. The best intentions can turn to weeds without the proper care. This Fall we embark on a new project called The Eco Classroom, combining simple gardening with eco education; an on campus service-learning model that fuses eco literacy with classroom curriculum. Rock path ways are always a nice addition to desertscapes. But, make sure you put down weed cloth or plastic underneath, otherwise you will have weeds growing up through it. Sometimes I'm called to fix other people's work. . #desertscape

Mulch covers a multitude of sins, especially unsightly front lawns. Dont be defeated by impossible lawns; mulch it. Asked my tree guy for a 'good' load, but this had a lot of palm and branches mixed. Will have a talk with him. Over all, a good 6" covered the front nicely. This will keep the weeds down and eventually decompose into a rich soil. Perfect foundation for desert scape, vegetable garden, or small orchard. #mulch #ecofriendly #landscape
