Last week One-Eighty Teen Center in Lodi hosted a successful Grand Reopening event! In 2001, One-Eighty Teen Center was awarded funding from UWSJC to open their doors for local youth. We are honored to carry forward what we provided 20 years ago and continue our partnership in impacting the lives of young people in the Lodi community.
Last week, our staff volunteered at Grace and Mercy in Lodi for Day of Action, which is today! We prepared lunches for the homeless and packed food boxes that were distributed to local families. Day of Action is a great opportunity to give back to our community and LIVE UNITED, together. So don’t do it alone get your family, friends or co-workers to join too! if you’re interested in volunteer opportunities contact us at (209) 469-6980, or visit our website at unitedwaysjc.org/volunteer.
Juneteenth (June 19), also referred to as Freedom Day, is celebrated to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. United Way of San Joaquin County is recommitting ourselves to investing in the African American communities we serve by learning, partnering with, and supporting efforts to eliminate inequity and injustice in our county. Today our office is closed in observance of Juneteenth.

Helping Humankind The Lodi Salvation Army and a team from the Lodi Homelessness Task force spanned out to area encampments in Lodi to help deliver much needed winter supplies to the homeless. Lodi has always had a big heart.
"Sometimes all that stands between a homeless person and the resources they need is simply that they don’t know where to look, Trees said. She’s hoping to break down those barriers." Read more about Trees' story in the Record. http://ow.ly/973j50DuVSt

The winter months can be challenging for all of us, especially when exposed to the cold weather and rain. For those men, women and children living in San Joaquin County and in need of shelter, food, or clothing, reach out to the Gospel Center Rescue Mission and the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless for winter shelter beds.
