On this Father's Day, we remember Richard Underwood, 3rd generation farmer (pictured left), who believed and supported his son Craig Underwood's vision of offering produce directly to the consumer before it was mainstream. Beginning with the opening of our roadside market in Somis in 1980, our Moorpark farm in 1990 and attending our 1st Farmers' Market in Camarillo in 1995, Craig (pictured right & in 2nd photo) saw the importance of connecting the public with the farm. Althou...gh this was a relatively new concept, his father Richard encouraged him and 41 years later, we are proud to continue to bring visitors to our farm to enjoy the fresh air and open space as well as offer our fresh produce at 15 Farmers' Markets throughout Ventura and LA Counties. Thank you to Richard and Happy Father's Day to Craig. A father and grandfather, he also considers his employees part of his own family. We thank him for his hard work and dedication to the company, for always being kind, fair, and loyal, for setting an incredible example to us all and allowing us to share our treasured farm with so many.

Summer officially arrives this Sunday & farm dog Bauer wants to remind our visitors to protect themselves from the sun when visiting this weekend. We always recommend sunscreen, a hat and lots of water to stay fully hydrated!

Caturday night update! Farm cat Latte was spotted limping last week. Upon further examination, our team found her back leg to be injured. She was immediately taken to the vet who diagnosed her with a broken leg! Latte’s leg was put in a splint and she is resting comfortably on the farm being cared for by our team. We hope Latte will be back on her feet soon!

Weekday mornings are a great time to visit! Afternoons are more popular as kids end their school days and on-line learning midday. Fridays are the most popular weekday. If planning on weekend visits, on-line tickets are sold out for this Saturday. Walk-ins are accepted on the weekends howev...er we will delay & hold entries outside the gate to limit attendance as needed. At any time we may close the gate for entries. The Farm Market will always remain open for pumpkins, produce & harvest decor. Masks are required at check in, check out, in the Animal Center, on the wagons, in our markets and anywhere 6 feet physical distancing cannot be maintained. How many pumpkins can fill a basket? If it’s a sugar baby - too many to count!!! The sugar baby pumpkin is known as the best squash for making all of your favorite pumpkin dishes! Often just 2-4 pounds, they are sweeter, firmer and less stringy than larger carving pumpkins. Their small compact size makes them easy for baking and roasting and a 4-pound sugar baby should yield around 1 cups of mashed pumpkin. This puree can be used in all your recipes calling for the canned version.
