Dr. Roy Wilmeth and his wife Lisa own Kingdom Veterinary Clinic, a small-animal practice. The Wilmeths started the practice from scratch and didn’t want a lot of debt, so they needed a small building for their clinic. I wanted something that was very stout, sturdy, and had good craftsmanship, he said. He also wanted a building that looked good, and the detailed exterior trim of Ulrich buildings fit the bill. The Wilmeths bought a 16x40 cabin shell and finished it out them...selves, opening for business in January of 2018. They named the practice Kingdom Veterinary Clinic, Roy says, because we’re here to further God’s Kingdom in all that we do, and that includes our work. The couple cares about both the animals and their owners. While we love what we do . . . more importantly our job on this earth is to spread the message of the Gospel and to love people, Roy says. The cabin has a reception area, restroom, exam room, and treatment area for surgeries and dental cleanings, with cages for sick animals. The Wilmeths made the cabin interior homey so the clients and their animals would feel at ease. Delivery of the Ulrich cabin shell went well, although four inches of rain just prior to delivery created some obstacles. This building has worked out fabulously for us. We get compliments on it all the time, Roy says.

Guy does his working and playing in three-week blocks since he works on an offshore drilling ship. When I asked Guy what he does when he’s home, he said he plays. Gatherings with family and friends happen frequently, and Guy likes to fire up the grills and let the good times roll. Recently, Guy and his wife Kristie decided to downsize. Before, they lived on a two-acre property, now they are in their new suburban home. But just because they are on a smaller property doesn’t me...an they don’t intend to keep enjoying life! He needed some storage space, however, so that he could clear out his garage. Not only did he want some storage space, but he wanted a workshop as well. So he started looking for a shed for his backyard. First he researched online, then he hit the pavement in search of the perfect building. I want something that’s gonna last, he said. He wasn’t sure exactly what size he wanted, but with Ulrich sales consultant Aaron Jordan’s help, he decided on a 12x20 Pro Series Lofted Cabin Shell. This cabin’s design will allow him to put storage items in the dual lofts while using the main floor as his workshop and tool storage space. Essentially, Guy is adding space to his house by adding a cabin in the backyard. It makes a lot of sense when you consider how complicated and expensive a home addition would be. With his new storage space and workshop in place, Guy can empty the garage, convert it into his man cave, and party like a pro!

Erin Schaefgen’s farm combines her love of chickens with her knack for design. She sells her specialty hatching eggs to enthusiasts all over the nation. After Erin and her husband Corey moved, they needed a chicken coop. Erin didn’t want just any old shed. She wanted an Instagram-worthy coop! They found Ulrich online, and spoke with one of our sales consultants. They settled on a 10x16 ft Elite Gardener. It features the transom light dormer, large eaves, and generous venting.... The cupola with a rooster weathervane is the cherry on top. After the building was delivered, the Schaefgens divided the interior into two different coops, with a feed room in the middle. They added tongue and groove for a shiplap look, and painted everything white. With flowers in the flower boxes and a rock skirt around the bottom, the coop looks terrific. They added two covered chicken runs, allowing the chickens to enjoy some fresh air but still have protection from the Texas sun. They opened their farm to the public during the Wise County coop tour. Admiring visitors enjoyed watching the unique chickens and asked questions about the Schaefgen’s impressive coop. Courtney Wyrick loves to document babies as they grow, from the first maternity photos to the babies' first birthdays and beyond. When she began her photography business, she stashed props in closets in her house. Loading and unloading for photography sessions took two hours. She rented a studio for two years, where she learned what would work best for her business. Courtney then worked with her dad, Rick Wells, to bring in a cabin shell from Ulrich Log Cabins to her paren...ts' place at the edge of Rockwell, Texas. After touring the Ulrich plant, they chose a 16x32 Premier Gable Cabin Shell as the new home for Courtney Marie Photography. Rick was impressed with how Ulrich staff was available to answer his questions throughout and after the project. Rick and Courtney designed the cabin with three of the walls finished out as permanent backgrounds. They added a porch, a storage closet, and an attic for seasonal props. Since newborn sessions can take up to four hours, they added a bathroom as well as a play area for siblings. Courtney has a spot to display props so people can choose what they like for sessions. After nearly two years, the only thing Rick would do differently is buy a bigger cabin shell. The building is sturdy, and although the ground has shifted some, it has not affected the building at all. The location has worked out well for Courtney's business. Besides leaving her children with her parents during sessions, it's been helpful to have her own place for people to come to in a pretty location where she can also take photos outside. With her Ulrich cabin designed for the needs of her business, she anticipates using the studio for years to come.

Moving from a house with a three-car garage to a house with a two-car garage, Kevin Watson didn't like squeezing his lawn equipment in around their vehicles. He wanted a garden shed so he could move the garden tools and equipment out of the garage. When Kevin toured Ulrich, he compared several sheds and chose an Elite Gardener because of the higher ceiling and the window in the door. He chose a 10x14 shed, the largest size allowed by HOA restrictions in his community. Kevin k...new this was a long-term purchase, so he bought a storage shed he really liked. HOA restrictions also required that the shed be built on a concrete slab. With the outdoor kitchen, patio, and hot tub already on his property, Kevin chose a spot for the storage shed to fit in with the existing structures in his backyard. The Ulrich crew took three days to build his shed, then Kevin added electricity and lighting. He put epoxy on the floor and installed a stereo system. "It's not just an old garden shed," he says. "It's kind of like a little house." Kevin has plenty of space to store garden equipment and barbecue supplies. Here in his garden shed, he keeps his tools hung up on pegboards, with a special wall of memorabilia from his parents. In the evenings, Kevin likes to open up the double doors of his garden shed, sit in his lawn chair, and watch the wildlife in the preserve behind his house. Satisfied, Kevin says, "Ulrich has been a very good experience."

2020 has been bumpy. Take a day to focus on the good and the positive. And do a little celebrating.

Scotty Rigsby runs Rigsby's Garden Center and Silverado Lawn and Landscaping. The property has an old farmhouse, big oaks, and a creek running through. Scotty needed storage for tables, chairs, and décor for events and was renting three storage units a mile away. He wanted storage on-site that would last for a long time. Scotty first saw an Ulrich building at a show and was impressed by how well made the buildings were. Ten years later, when he needed storage for his business..., Ulrich Barn Builders was the only place he looked. He chose a 14x32 Elite Portable Garage because of the charming exterior of the building. Since Scotty didn't need a garage door, sales consultant Weston Ulrich exchanged the garage door for double doors on the side, adding a loft on each end for increased storage space. Together they matched the exterior colors to Scotty's farmhouse, adding window boxes and a cupola to make the storage building even prettier. Weston quickly worked out financing details for the building. Now instead of throwing money away on rent for three inconveniently located storage units, Scotty pays the same amount each month for a beautiful, sturdy building right on his property, a building he will eventually own out-right. Ulrich's customer service didn't end at installation. About six months after the building was delivered, the ground settled, shifting the ramp so the doors wouldn't open easily. After one call to Ulrich, they sent a crew back out to lower the ramp and relevel the building. "The product, the process, and the quality have been phenomenal," Scotty says. "My experience working with Ulrich mirrored the quality of the product." See Less
