The NCC Executive Officers Have Issued the Following Statement: As leaders of the Northern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, we join our brothers... and sisters in Christ by publicly standing against racism and injustice. We feel silence is complicity. No matter how difficult and uncomfortable, we must individually and collectively break down the walls of separation that destroy the essential rights of human dignity, self-worth, and freedom in our region and in our churches. And we must communicate with a unified voice, sense of urgency, and unwavering commitment that intolerance, violence, discrimination, and marginalization are unacceptable. We must: Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow (Isaiah 1:17). We act because Jesus taught us to love your neighbor as yourself (Galatians 5:14) and to do for others what you want them to do for you (Matthew 7:12). Standing up for social justice means you believe all people have rights and have been created in the image of God, that each human deserves dignity, the same as we desire for ourselves. Never should anyone fear going out in public because of skin color, ethnicity, or legal status. We cannot allow this type of fear to exist in our neighborhoods, and it starts with us as Christians. Like our early Adventist pioneers who advocated for abolition, equality, and justice, we urge our church members to engage the community with compassion, while bravely speaking out against racism, injustice, violence, and hatred. As disciples of Christ, our epic mission is to tell everyone in our sphere of influence about Christ’s unconditional love and His promise to return. We are not alone. The Holy Spirit is here to guide and empower us as we help transform and heal our communities with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. As one of the most ethnically diverse Christian faiths in California, we as Seventh-day Adventists have a unique and transformative opportunity to demonstrate in both words and actions what it means to be inclusive, kind, just, gentle, and full of love for every person no matter their differences. Today let us prayerfully make our homes, churches, and schools a place where people find peace that passes all understanding and the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.

Our church-family has been serving at Plowshares for over a year now, and the ministry has been especially blessed during this time! Watch an interview with Pastor Doug and Natalie to learn more about how our church’s homeless ministry continues serving during this time. A huge thank you to our church teams who make this happen every week!
