Kingston is doing great two months after his liver transplant! As a newborn, Kingston received a diagnosis of biliary atresia after his mom noticed he wasn’t ga...ining weight. Since his transplant, Kingston is growing well! He's an affectionate, happy boy who loves being held, playing with his 2-year-old brother and eating mashed bananas and sweet potatoes! See more

We are so honored to be a part of the Paired Transplant Centers Program sponsored by The Transplantation Society-International Liver Transplantation Society (TTS-ILTS). A team lead by Dr. Maria Matamoros from Hospital Mexico in Costa Rica visited UCSF for a week-long stay to learn first-hand about all aspects of UCSF’s liver transplant program.

UCSF Kidney Transplant Program is being featured as one of the divisions in this year’s pre-recorded broadcast at ASN’s Kidney Week 2019 (November 5-10, 2019). We are showcasing the fantastic work they do in this video. Among quality related items like the size of our program and outcomes, they are highlighting our clinical nephrology fellowship and the collaborative work done between surgeons and nephrologists. Congrats, Kidney Transplant! https://www.youtube.com/watch

Thank you everyone for joining us this year at our Annual Chris Mudge Pediatric Transplant Picnic at McNears Beach, California on August 3, 2019. Huge thanks to our volunteers and donors for making this event a huge success! Also, thanks for Groove Teknicians (DJ), Sea Trek Kayak and SUP Center, and Spotlight Promotions! Thanks to all our artists for doing such a great job: Lauren Greene (Facepainter), Alapi Bhatt (Henna Artist), and Suzy Q (Balloon Aritst) for creating such a fun atmosphere for the kids. Please enjoy the photos from that day.

On September 7th, 2019 Donor Network West will host the 9th Annual Donate Life Run/Walk 5K, 10K and Kids Dash. Please join UCSF Health and run or walk the 5K or 10K through Bishop Ranch in San Ramon. The Donate Life Run/Walk helps to raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donors in California. All proceeds from the event will benefit the effort to inspire California residents to register on the Donate Life California Organ and Tissue Donor Registry and to honor the... donors and their families who have already given the Gift of Life. To join Team UCSF Health follow these steps: 1) Visit 5k.dnwest.org 2) Click Register then "Join a Team" button, then Join as a New Participant. Please join us in welcoming our newest Assistant Professor, Dr. James Gardner to the Division of Transplant Surgery! Dr. Gardner earned his BA from Harvard University in Biochemical Sciences and both his MD and PhD degrees from UCSF. He then completed his General Surgery Residency at UCSF followed by a two-year clinical fellowship in Transplant Surgery. Dr. Gardner is the first surgeon to be awarded an appointment to the prestigious Physician-Scientist Scholar Program (PSSP), part of the UCSF Sandler Fellows Program. We are so happy to have him joining our team.
