On Monday, Dec. 7th, please join us, UCLA Community Programs Office, and the UCLA School of Law from 10am 2pm for a drive-by food, necessity, and toy donation drive. This drive will serve UCLA’s most vulnerable students, staff, and retirees who may be struggling to attain food and essential items due to financial hardships this holiday season. Escaping enslavement in 1827, leading abolitionist Sojourner Truth championed equal rights for all - including the right of men and women to vote. After the Civil War, she worked for the Freedmen's Bureau, helping Black southerners build new lives. Join us this Friday, Dec. 4 from 11am 12pm for a One Bus, One Cause with the Smithsonian Institute to learn how you can help transcribe documents such as this to make historical documents more accessible. This session will start off with an introductory orientation with the Smithsonian Institute where they will explain the importance of the Digital Volunteers and how to start transcribing from home.
