Last night, I was sworn in as UCLA’s 2020-2021 Financial Supports Commissioner. A little over a year ago, I had believed that l would no longer continue being in USAC but there were a few positions open to run. I encouraged Millen to run for FSC because of her passion and dedication to help the student body in any way. I was surprised but honored when Millen asked me to serve as the Assistant Financial Supports Commissioner and I jumped at the opportunity to fight for better ...financial resources. This past year in FSC, each project or event we held made me work even harder for future resources and continuously affirmed my decision for run as Financial Supports Commissioner. My platforms include creating a Financial Opportunities Center, a central location virtually and on campus to have a dedicated space with resources for low socioeconomic status students and all students. I will be continuing the expansion of many successful programs ran and created this year such as BruinCard Fee waivers. My office will be dedicated to ensuring our student body has up-to-date information on the financial impacts COVID-19 on our UCLA administration and government. Lastly, we will tackle expensive additional costs and reduce these at the policy level. If you’re interesting in working with FSC this year to provide the best financial resources, check out the link in our bio to apply and keep an eye out for more posts with information on our committees. I look forward to a new year of working for UCLA students! APPLY HERE: tinyurl.com/fsc2020apply

UCLA USAC Financial Supports Commission 06.07.2020

A message from our 2019-2020 FSC Millen: Tonight, my term as UCLA’s 2019-2020 USAC Financial Supports Commissioner will be over, and with that, I wanted to share my last message about how proud I am of this office and USAC as a whole. After losing my spring 2019 election for USAC President, I went through one of the hardest periods in my life and felt that my passion for advocacy wasn’t enough. Luckily, I was surrounded by a team of individuals who motivated me, believed i...n me, and pushed me to run for the vacant Financial Supports Commission in the special fall election a few months later. And I couldn’t be prouder of all the work we were able to accomplish. Some of our accomplishments in just 5 months of our term include providing universal CARES act funding for all students, chairing the COVID19 relief fund to provide 900 students with a $250 award, creating the BruinCard Fee Waiver Program, expanding the lab coat & iClicker rental programs, starting the Reproductive Justice Health Center, and setting a new precedent for USAC transparency and engagement. But above all else, I’m proud of my team and my campus. The initiatives of this office are a reminder of why public work is so important. Our year as FSC has shown the importance of helping others as best we can and what a real difference we can make, especially during trying times such as these. More than anything, I’m proud of my Assistant Commissioner, campaign member, and close friend Noe, who is your next 2020-2021 FSC. Noe has a genuine passion to do better and I have no doubt he will carry forward the work we did this year in our office. I couldn’t imagine having a better experience for my senior year here at UCLA, and I have FSC and all of you to thank for shaping me as a leader. Thank you for allowing me to represent you in this position and for supporting our office throughout this entire year. Signing off, Your 2019-2020 USAC Financial Supports Commissioner Millen Srivastava See more
