News shared by CFF- Today a team of researchers from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, UCLA, and Cedars-Sinai published a first-of-its-kind study into the cellular makeup of the lungs of people with and without CF. The research, featured on the cover of Nature Medicine, illustrates how CF changes the cells in the airways, identifies newly discovered subtypes of cells, and could reveal targets for future genetic therapies. The research team was assembled through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Epithelial Stem Cell Consortium, which brings together scientists from across the U.S. John (Jed) Mahoney, head of the stem cell biology team at the CF Foundation Therapeutics Lab, is a senior co-author of the paper.
