The medical simulation community lost a great simulation leader a few days ago. Having worked with Chad on several projects, we collectively grieve for his family and the great things left unfinished because he left us too soon.
We wish you and your family a safe and happy winter break! As a reminder, the simulation center will be on winter break from 21 December 2020 - 1 January 2021
MS 1 Clinical Foundations Simulation virtually this afternoon.
From the staff of the Simulation Center, we are wishing you and your family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
The director of operations takes a break from the office to do some nursing simulation today.
Did you know... As of November 1, our three SimMan 3G simulators have had 283,670 chest compressions performed on them combined; that’s a lot of CPR!
The sim staff is amazing...sometimes they have to apply fixes right in the middle of simulation sessions
School of Nursing is using the center today running pediatric simulation sessions
Clinical Foundations BLS is fast approaching. The staff is making sure the laptops used for skills verification are all updated appropriately. Medical students at UCI School of Medicine get certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) in their 1st and 3rd years, followed by Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) in their 4th year.
Happy Healthcare Simulation Week!
As the medical students return to campus for in-person simulation...a critical component in their undergraduate medical education, it’s all because we have an approved COVID re-opening plan, and our faculty and staff have been very diligent in disinfection and social distancing protocols.
Congratulations Dr. Alsomali!
We want to officially welcome the first year medical students! This week marks your very first time in the simulation center, and this week you are embarking on this journey with a follow up to your vital signs lecture with a hands on vital signs workshop...enjoy and see you in the center!
A "behind the scenes" look at Dr. Ricks recording a welcome and walkthrough video.
As the start of the medical school year approaches and, in light of COVID, this year will look a little different. The simulation center has been operating and providing services through COVID. The staff has braved through this uncertain time to ensure training and education wasn’t impacted. This has allowed us to refine our policies and procedures in preparation for the new school year. We welcome back the medical students and excited to train with a new class of aspiring physicians.
Dr. Paul Phrampus recently posted a blog post about cognitive load control in simulation scenario design. It is an interesting read...check it out! http://ucimedsim.home.blog//cognitive-load-control-in-sim/
