Nicola Pusterla and Colleen Heney of the Equine Dentistry & Oral Surgery Service will address the benefits of keeping your horse's teeth in great shape, as well as the pitfalls that may come if your horse's teeth are neglected. As the Class of 2019 wraps up its academic year and prepares for graduation, they bestowed some awards on our faculty, staff, technicians and residents. Joey Pacini, Field Service Coordinator, was awarded Large Animal Staff Member of the Year Ailbhe King, Livestock Resident, was awarded Resident of the Year Sarah Blasczynski, Livestock Technician, was awarded Technician of the Year... Munashe Chigerwe, Livestock Clinician, was awarded Faculty Member of the Year. Congratulations award winners, and a big congrats to the Class of 2019!
Dr. Isabelle Kilcoyne recently presented research at the American Association of Equine Practitioners convention that shows measuring the biomarker creatine kinase in abdominal fluid can help distinguish horses with ischemic (lacking blood flow) intestine due to a strangulating lesionand, thus, require surgeryfrom those without.
