Announcement Regarding Recent Events: Due to recent events regarding COVID-19 and in an effort in keeping the health and well-being of the community as a priority, the Diocese of Orange has temporarily suspended all public celebrations of Sunday Mass throughout the diocese until further notice. Bishop Kevin Vann dispensed all Catholics in Orange County from the obligation of attending Mass (statement linked below). The diocese, as well as several other local parishes, will l...ive stream Mass on their website. As a result, the University Catholic Community (UCC) will not be holding in-person Mass until further direction from the Diocese of Orange. As for our youth ministries within our community (Liwanag and HOPE), please inquire with them directly for any alternatives being done with regards to their meetings (http://catholiccommunityatuci.weebly.com/youth-ministries.h). Attached below will be the statement released from the diocese regarding Mass and actions being taken regarding COVID-19. To Our Community: There will be Mass this upcoming Sunday (3/15) at 5 PM, our last Mass of the Winter quarter as scheduled. There will be no Mass on 3/22 as previously scheduled due to Spring Break. As preventative guidelines continue to roll out from the university and the diocese regarding COVID-19, another announcement will be made prior to the start of Spring quarter regarding what the future holds for our UCC community. ... In addition, the Diocese of Orange has released an official statement with regards to recent events, which will be linked at the end of this announcement. In summary, if you are sick or feel legitimate concern for your health, you are excused from attending Mass on Sundays and on Holy Days of Obligation until further notice. As an alternative there will be live-streams of Mass every Sunday, a link has been provided at the bottom of the official statement linked below. Finally, we would like to wish everyone a safe and healthy Spring Break, and Spring quarter to those who will not be returning for the following term. We encourage everyone to look into preventative actions being taken in your home diocese/parish for those that will be returning home.
