"I just wanted to share with you my completed project. I chose this project for 2 reasons. The first was, it was a project that my father did back in the 1960's. Maybe slightly different colors, but none the less, very similar. Second, because it is plywood, storage space is minimal. Thank you for keeping this project alive. I am pleased to share it with my family and friends." -Lyle Hall Thank you, sir. And Merry Christmas from U-Bild!

About 8 years ago, during a storm, we lost an oak tree in our yard that was maybe 100 years old. I saved sections of the trunk and paid a guy that had a mill in his back yard to take the logs down to 1 & 1 inch slabs for me. I came across your website when looking for ideas with making a crib for my new granddaughter. Not only did you have something really unique, it came with a material list and step-by-step instructions. The directions were precise, easy to understand and... all the measurements were spot on. If I can build from these plans then anybody can. I did make some modifications. The plans called for the chair back to be straight 90 degrees from the seat. That looked a little too boxy for me, so I reclined the dowels back a few degrees and beveled the chair post to fit the armrest. Fitting the dowel pins to a beveled joint was a little tricky but I eventually figured it out. I didn’t use finials for the top ends of the chair or cradle posts because those would have had to be store bought so not in the theme I was keeping with a one tree cradle. I don’t own a lathe to have made the finials myself, or the time to learn how to do it. Babies grow too fast. I cut thin strips of laminate from scraps to cover the holes I previously drilled in the posts. That also concealed the end grain. So now my new baby granddaughter has a crib made from the tree that her mother used to play around, climb and swing from. And she says it’s the most precious piece of furniture she has ever had. The cradle made a big hit when finished but anybody can take a picture or get plans of something then build it. The real credit goes to the artist that designs it then offers it to others. I could not have done this without you guys. A small brass label on the back of the chair headboard was the finishing touch. Sincerely, William J. Morgan Redding CA

Dear U-Bild, I just wanted to express my appreciation for the Small Windmill Plan (http://www.u-bild.com/projects-outdoor/912.htm) that I used to create my first non-construction project! The plans were excellent and the support I received when I called was great as well! The project took me a few weeks (an hour here and hour there) but I finally finished it and am very happy with the results. Many thanks for your wonderful project plan! Bob... PS I have enclosed a picture of the windmill, now on display on my pool deck!

"The attached picture shows the Cape Lighthouse. Completed several years ago but never got around to sending a picture. One change is the use of an LED and photocell. The LED was on the clearance table at Home Depot and has functioned perfectly turning on at dusk and off at dawn. The concealed cord is plugged into a GFCI outlet. The socket and globe are from a basic outdoor porch light." Ray Klett Englewood, FL

I am attaching a couple of pics of the cottage we built in 1977. pics were taken in Sept 2014 so as you can see the old girl has weathered well and holds many great family memories! My husband and I are planning on building it again as our small retirement home on land we currently own. We love the rigid frame aspect as layout can be customized to our requirements. The one we built in ‘77 is oceanfront and has withstood wind, rain, salt spray and many years of snow load and is still going strong! Great vacation home plan. Sincerely, Jackie Brown

Dear Sir: Last week when I ordered plans by phone for a child’s rocker, I visited a few minutes with the gentleman who took my order. I told him that my husband Wayne, who will soon be 85 years old and still does beautiful woodworking, had made several tea carts and a cradle for our first great-grandchild, Kaleb. He asked me to send pictures of a tea cart and the cradle. Please find enclosed with this letter the two pictures. Sincerely,... Carolyn Littleton, Harrison, AR See more

Attached are three photos: the rocking horse likely made around 1949-1950, me on the same horse when I was about 2 and the elephant I just made from the same pattern. -Bill Everitt
