Twining Pastures

Three big updates for you. 1. We have been working on the trail over Power Pole Hill. The trail over that hill, especially near the top has been, well, challenging. This winter it has been challenging and slippery. Greg and his mule Gee came up and helped me hack a real trail up the steepest and most slippery places and then helped haul gravel up there to make the footing even better. Not quite done yet but boy is it better and less scary! 2. We pruned back a bunch of br...anches near the cow corrals so it is now easy to drive back past them. 3. Today we took down the round corral, which involved cutting off a lot of bolts so we could remove the wood from the bottom of each panel. The panels were way, way too heavy to handle with the wood attached. I'm now grooming the sand flat and the round corral will go back up round instead of oval. I know, what a concept, a round corral should be round instead of 45 ft wide one way and 55 ft in the other! See more

With rain finally approaching Donald and I thought we had to do something about Oracle Oak Arena. It has been sadly neglected this year and had a lot of extra vegetation growing on it. Our thought was that all that vegetation would be a lot easier to get out of dry sand than wet sticky sand. It took most of the day, but the arena looks a heck of a lot better!

A beautiful red mounting block has been placed in the Day Use parking area, near the arena. Perfect for us short older folks!
