Instead of having 20 people around our Christmas table this year it'll be two -- Bernie and me. It's a different Christmas for sure. Our Adams Avenue Shop is open today until 1 and then closed on Christmas day. But our Park Boulevard store will be open until 5 today and will be open Christmas morning from 7 until noon, so you can get your caffeine fix. Regular hours return for both stores on Saturday. We always have a few weddings around the holidays. This year they're micro weddings. It's great to have a big celebration with lots of friends but there's something to be said about the small intimate wedding with only immediate family. This is pretty much the official wedding cake of Covid, a small 6" cutting cake. Delivered this with mini cupcakes up to the Cuvier Club in La Jolla yesterday. Wednesday night's family meal is a vegan stuffed delicata squash filled with French lentils that are cooked with cumin and mustard seeds and a little bit of coconut milk to give a slightly Indian flavor to the dish. It comes with a condiment of cashew raita made with ground cashews rather than yogurt to keep the dish vegan. The raita also contains diced cucumbers and mint. Delivered this Day of the Dead themed wedding cake to a private home yesterday in the UTC area. The couple provided the toppers, we made the roses and skulls from fondant. The black lace is actual fabric which gives a fantastic look at a reasonable price. Great job by @cardeeand on the decor. Monday night's family meal is shredded chicken in Adobo. We make the Adobo sauce in house by reconstituting dried pasilla ancho and chili de Arbol chilies. Then we blend them with a bit of their soaking liquid, cumin seeds, olive oil, lots of garlic and a touch of honey. There's a bit of heat and it's super delicious.
