Perhaps my job was to break the cycle in my family. Or change up a perspective for someone, anyone else about alcohol use and it’s costs it has the potential to bring with it. Maybe my deal with addictive substances is all mine and all due to my genetics, environment and role modeling , maybe this, maybe that. But here is the hard truth which is unshakable: Only I can make the choice to get clean and sober and stay clean and sober and it SHOULD BE ALL MY SHIT to deal with ...and repair as I am fully responsible for every sip or pill I took. God didn’t save me. A destiny guided by purpose and some angels helped keep me alive, but the spiritual awakening is all within self. Thusly, I am the only one responsible for every restraint I make. #smartchoices Don’t get me wrong - others inspire me, share wisdom, success and perspective of which I am grateful for. But who can change my mind but me? No one. I can be influenced, I can be curious, I can consider, reason and rationalize. See, these are skills I was not aware of or in control of for 70% of my life. But as my sons (age 19 and 24) prove: our choices? They are ours and ours alone. No one can make them get into the alcohol culture.
