FRIDAY FEATURE The great investigator Sherlock Holmes once remarked, "The little things are infinitely the most important." TPD Officers were dispatched to a local electronics store regarding two suspicious subjects who were possibly engaged in thievery. Officers contacted Anthony Francis and Clay Curfman outside the store by a truck and a motorcycle. The initial field investigation resulted in the arrest of Francis for possession of a concealed dirk or dagger and the arr...est of Curfman for possession of drug paraphernalia. Alas! The story doesn't end there, as our officers deduced there might be more profound things astir. During a search of the truck, officers located about 95 grams of fentanyl, over 15 grams of methamphetamine, over $25,000 in cash, a functional unserialized semi-automatic pistol, drug sales indicia, drug paraphernalia, and other illegal items. Both Francis and Curfman were booked into Orange County Jail facing a myriad of felony and misdemeanor offenses.

We hope our Santa Sleigh was able to spread some cheer this year. Mr. and Mrs. Claus visited roughly 90% of the city over 15 scheduled nights. This tradition now stands close to 25 years. : Behind the Badge

FRIDAY FEATURE Tustin PD responded to calls of a hit & run traffic collision involving two vehicles. A witness followed the suspect vehicle into a neighborhood and directed officers to its location. Officers then contacted the suspect, Jesus Paredes. Paredes was arrested for DUI and hit & run. Luckily, the other party did not sustain major injuries from the collision. Thank you to the several helpful callers and witnesses we received in this incident. Reducing traffic collisions and apprehending DUI drivers are major focuses of the department. This holiday season, let your tree be the only thing that's "lit." Drive safely Tustin.

Don't fall victim! County-wide we are seeing an increase in phone scams referencing the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the suspension of Social Security numbers. The phone scam is using Orange County area code prefixes. The Social Security Administration (SSA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) indicate these phone schemes attempt to fraudulently solicit money or personal information. Phone Scam Language: "This is the Department of the Social Security Administration. The reason of this call is to inform you that your Social Security number has been suspended for suspicion of illegal activity. If you do not contact us immediately, your account will be deactivated. For more information about this case file, press 1 or call immediately our department number XXX-XXXX."

ARREST OF INTEREST / LOOKING FOR SIMILAR CRIMES Around 6:00 AM this morning, we received calls from alert residents who noticed a suspicious subject walking from house to house. When officers contacted this subject, he was standing on a front porch, in the process of going through a victim's mailbox on Kalua, near Charloma Dr. During the detention, officers identified 28-year-old John Campbell. During a probation search, Campbell was found in possession of stolen property ...from two different thefts from vehicles. These thefts occurred in the neighborhoods near Red Hill Ave. and Bryan Ave., including street like Lance Dr., Bryan Ave., First St., and Kalua Ln. At the conclusion of the investigation, Campbell was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail for theft and possession of stolen property. If you believe you were a victim or have camera footage matching Campbell's appearance as depicted in this post, specifically the black and white still images taken at the time of the crime, please telephone the Tustin PD Dispatch Center at 714-573-3225. It's Friday night. We hope you're not thinking of engaging in unlawful street racing or intersection takeovers. We work with a specialized task force to fiercely address this issue. This photo shows only 2 of about 15 vehicles which were impounded for 30 days after the drivers used their vehicles to block traffic for an unlawful speed contest at an intersection. Approximately 20 associated spectators of the incident received misdemeanor arrests. The more you know...
