A busy afternoon for Turlock Rural and surrounding agencies. This afternoon just after 3pm, Gr-46 (with a crew of 3) was Dispatched to assist Salida Fire Department with a river bottom fire. We currently still have a crew assigned to Assit with mop-up and fire watch. In addition to this, we also provided E-46 (crew of 3) to Denair Fire Department with a Structure Fire on Katella in Denair. We were able to staff a third engine as well and respond to a vehicle accident with Keyes Fire Protection District. This evening saw the Fire Districts in our county provide reassures across the region in support of multiple efforts. At the height of the fight, most of the Fire Districts had 2-3 units assigned out of their own districts.

Thank you ADT! This tool was purchased through a kind donation by them. This new Holmatro - Rescue Tools and Extrication Equipment provided by Western Extrication Specialists / Holmatro will be put in to service and replace tools that are nearly 35 years old. We truly appreciate this act of kindness and the ability to reinvest in our equipment to best serve not only our District, but our surrounding neighbors.

The weekend is already off to a busy start for your Turlock Rural Firefighters. So far this weekend, we have responded to two working structure fires, multiple vegetation fires, and several other calls for service. ... Please remember that starting today, we will be in #RedFlagWarning for our area due to high temperatures (over 100 degrees) and gusty winds. The grasses are incredibly dry and a single spark can set off an unexpected chain of events. #OneLessSpark Also, be sure to check on your neighbors and pets. This heat wave is early in the season. Be sure to check your vehicle and never leave people or animals in a vehicle unattended.

It’s time! It’s time! It’s time! Have you changed your batteries? Today’s the day! It’s recommended that batteries are changed every six months! Be sure to also change the batteries in your Carbon Monoxide Dectectors! ... We typically see a surge in CO/ Smoke detector related calls as heaters are started for the first time as the weather cools off. When was the last time you checked both? This should be done monthly. Do you know how old your detectors are? That’s maximum, they should be changed and replaced every 10 years. Does your family have an emergency escape plan with two ways out for each room? Have you practiced it lately? Today is a great day to do that! If you have questions, we’re here to help! We’d rather see you now than in the middle of the night!

Today we welcomed home our Brush-50 from 23 days of deployment to the fires. Initially dispatched to the Loyalton Fire and then sent to the LNU Lightining Complex. During their time they worked with other dedicated volunteers from Keyes Fire Protection District, Denair Fire Department, Burbank Paradise Fire Dept, and the West Stanislaus Fire Department. Thank you to the two crews who staffed our engine during its deployment. Fire Captains Lewallen and Davenport, Engineer Cas...anova, Firefighters Jensen and McColley. During the deployment our district remained covered by our members to ensure that all calls continued to be answered and still had several calls for local mutual aid as well. We are proud to serve our community whether it be here or across the State.

An important message from Sheriff Dirkse.

Turlock Rural Firefighters’ Association 22.08.2020

Currently we have a water tender staffed with 2 committed to the Bunker Incident. During the initial response, we provided coverage for both Keyes Fire Protection District and Denair Fire Department while they also assisted as well as covering our own district. This is an addition to still having an engine committed to the LNU Complex.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of Firefighter- Trainee Kuchan. Bryan was beginning his path and training with our Department . His enthusiasm and eagerness will be sorely missed. He had already found himself engrained in our culture and family. We thank his family for allowing us to be apart of his life and for being able to support them during this time. Please kee his family in your thoughts and prayers. Our fire family is small and incredibly tight-knit. Thank you to those agencies that have called and offered support during this time. A private ceremony will be held for the family.

August continues to be a very active month for calls. Yesterday 8/8 we provided station coverage for @keyes_fire mid afternoon and then moving to help cover North Turlock for @turlockfire while units moved to cover other stations while numerous county resources responded to the #SternsFire in Oakdale. Then at 8:35pm Turlock Rural with Automatic aid from @denairfire and @stanfiu209 responded to a working structure fire in the 2300 block of Youngst...own. The first responding officer immediately requested additional mutual with a large black column visible from our station. The fire included a detached shop that had extended in to heavy vegetation. Additional resources were requested. We received mutual aid from Mountain View Fire DIST, Keyes, @westport_fire, @bp_firefighters, and @mercedcountyfire. The cause and origin are under investigation. Any information should be forwarded to the Stanislaus Regional FIU.

As the first day of August nears an end, so does a busy day. From training to multiple calls for service. Closing out with coverage for our neighbors while they tended to an RV fire that extended in to vegetation. We are proud to serve our community and ask ways here to help our neighbors. #volunteer #mutualaid #volunteerfiredepartment #joinus #nowhiring
