David used to get up early in the morning, warm up his 18-wheeler and spend his day moving freight across the country as a CDL licensed truck driver. Unfortunately, one day at work David broke three ribs and had to go on worker’s compensation. After a few weeks of being off work, David received a letter from the state saying that his driver’s license had been suspended due to non-payment of child support. This suspension began what would turn out to be a multiple-year journe...y of trying to get back to work. In the next few years, David says he lost everything he owned including a quarter of a million dollars in assets and slowly began to descend into the world of homelessness. David heard about the Turlock Gospel Mission and its Restoration Program from Staff at the WeCare Men’s shelter and applied and entered the program saying he just needed a little help to get his license back. Today I am very happy to report that David’s hard work and his determination to work through long delays caused by bureaucracy and the Pandemic have paid off! Working with Turlock Gospel Mission Staff David has worked his way back to having a commercial driver’s license and is now preparing to get back to work! Additionally, David has graduated from the Restoration Program at the Mission and is dreaming of a future of finding a nice little town to settle down in. Please join me in wishing David the best as he begins to move into this next phase of his life!

One of our amazing former guests, Bridgette is doing amazing! She is living in her own place on the east coast and she heard about the heat wave in California and ordered a load of water to give away to men and women experiencing homelessness in Turlock!
