The Community needs good news. We welcome you to join and/or help us promote this wonderful life changing cause. Tulare Police Department along with several local agencies including Tulare County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Northern California. Agencies relay the torch on a specific route and time on its way to the steps of the State Capital for an inspiring torch run lighting ceremony signifying the opening... of Summer Games. Tulare Police will be escorting the torch Flame of Hope on June 14th at 10:00 am and will run for 2 miles starting and ending near City Hall. Attached is a map of the route in case you'd like to come out and support us. Also attached are some photos from the 2019 event hosted at the Bob Mathias Stadium. We had a great time and are looking forward to this event! We are also doing a fundraiser for the Special Olympics at our local Chipotle. See our previous post regarding the fundraiser.

Right now the Tulare Police Department and surround agencies are seeing an increase of vehicles being stolen while warming up unattended in the driveway. Criminals are out in the early morning hours looking to take an advantage of the colder months. A couple helpful tips to prevent your windows from frosting over is spray three parts vinegar to one part water on the windshield the night before. Two parts rubbing alcohol to one part water also works when sprayed on. You coul...d also cover it with a large towel or blanket and remove it in the morning before you leave.

Several weeks ago, the Tulare Police Department became aware of corrective traffic citations (fix it tickets) being fraudulently signed off and turned into the courts. These citations were for mechanical violations up to and including tinted windows, loud exhaust malfunctioning lighting equipment etc. The Tulare Police Department’s Investigation Unit began looking into the matter as soon as this information was received. During the investigation detectives were able to obt...ain several citations that were determined to be forged with a Tulare Police Officer’s signature as being corrected. These forged citations were being turned into the Tulare County Courts as corrected. It was determined that an individual was running a scheme and profiting from forging these correctable citations and people were not taking the necessary corrective action as required. On July 15, 2020 detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Colonial in the city of Tulare. Detectives found evidence linking Tyler Martinho (31 years of age) of Tulare as the subject who was forging the citations for a profit. Martinho was ultimately arrested on several charges from forgery, identity theft, impersonating a police officer, falsifying court documents and conspiracy. After booking and an interview he was transported county jail on the above listed charges. See more
